Working with DHC started out great, but towards the very end of the project, a pipe burst in our home because of their mistake--one they didn't take full responsibility for. When moving our dryer, they left the old dryer vent in the wall and covered it up. During a cold blast, this let in cold air and caused our pipes to freeze and burst. The resulting flood required replacing the brand new floor they had just installed. DHC was responsive and sent out a crew to help, but when it came to taking financial responsibility, the owner, Presley, pointed fingers at everyone else. He blamed the HVAC company we were working with (saying it was their oversight), claimed the issue was not in the contract, and said it was simply due to the cold weather. In our minds, someone on DHC's crew created this insulation problem (detaching the vent but not removing it or sealing the hole) and drywalled over it, then failed to inform the HVAC company about the issue. DHC offered to split the repair costs with us after suggesting we file an insurance claim. Why should we file an insurance claim if it was their wrongdoing? Isn't this why contractors have insurance? We ended up splitting the cost 3 ways with the HVAC company and DHC just to get the project finished and get them out of our house. We feel a responsible contractor would have accepted responsibility and paid for the full cost of this oversight. Besides this, other parts of the work had to be re-done, such as some bathroom tiles and a leftover hole in the bathroom floor. It didn't feel like DHC was really around to oversee the project and their subcontractors carefully. Instead, we were the quality control, which defeats the purpose of hiring a contractor. While we liked working with the project manager, the owner Presley didn't take responsibility for mistakes, leading to significant financial and personal stress. I unfortunately wouldn't recommend DHC and won't hire them again.

I hired Presley and team to do some renovations in my home (bathroom, stair, and fireplace wall remodel.) I am extremely pleased with the work, and am thoroughly enjoying my updates. Thank you team for all of your hard work!

We recently worked with DHC to remodel our master bath and update countertops, backsplashes, sinks and fixtures in our kitchen and other bathrooms. Living in your home during a remodel no matter how big or small is hard with the noise, mess and tradesmen in and out but DHC did what they could to minimize the chaos through great communication and an understanding of the progression of the project. Presley, Aaron and all of their crews were super friendly, skilled and easy to work with every step of the way. If we ever had a question or concern it was addressed in a timely manner and the project stayed on time and on budget! We highly recommend them and they will definitely be our first choice for our next remodeling project.

An exceptional experience for a major home project. We added a 4th bedroom to our upstairs floor plan by building over our third garage stall. DHC exceeded our expectations. Our most important reasons for selecting DHC for the project was their communication, their budget, and their timeline. Now that the project is completed, I can 100% confirm that all of those requirements were met with ease. Their estimated budget was incredibly accurate, their timeline was spot on, and they responded to text/email/call promptly. Very professional leadership AND crew. We are still finalizing our decor in the space, but I attached photos of their work. Its detailed, impeccable, and we are just over the moon stoked about how it all turned out. I highly recommend them to anyone considering a big house project!

I recently hired DHC to remodel our kitchen and I really could not be happier with the results. It went from 1980's totally outdated to modern. DHC tore out all cabinets, granite and backsplash and then replaced everything. In addition, they removed a soffit, re-wired the outlets, and cut off my pony wall. Presley and Aaron are super friendly guys and super easy to work with. Anytime I contacted them with an issue or question, they got back to me within 10 minute with the answer " no problem, it can be done". The crew ( Jaime and Martin) were very skilled and also easy to work with. The electrician and fabricator were awesome. (Presley also arranged electrician to replace 2 chandeliers elsewhere in my house for a reasonable cost). The crew cleaned up the workspace when they were done for the day and put the oven back in daily so we could use it. The crew was dedicated to our job - they were consistently here every day, all day. I got the quote a day or two after requesting it; and they started within a couple weeks. I also found their quote to be quite a bit less than my other quote from a different company. I am already talking to them about other projects and I would for sure hire them again. Kristin B

Hello sarah,I'm sorry to hear that this is how you viewed the experience. That being said, there are some very important details that you failed to include in your review. I will share those details below. The pipe burst during the extreme cold snap that the state experienced where temperatures dropped to -30°When you called us, we sent an immediate Emergency Response Team to the house to repair the burst pipe, handle all the water cleanup and mitigation. You immediately blamed DHC stating that the removal of the dryer vent is what caused the burst pipe. I said that "if that is what happened, we would take responsibility and that the HVAC team should have covered up that hole."It was later discovered that the hole was in fact filled with insulation that was above the required R-value.You called the city for a courtesy inspection and we all met the Chief Building official from the city of Boulder building department. The building official stated clearly to all of us during that meeting that not only had DHC adequately insulated the basement but that we had in fact EXCEEDED the code required R value and that is not the reason the pipe burst. He stated that the Pipe burst due to your existing hose bib spigots that were not in compliance. This was not a part of dhc's scope of work! That is why the Pipes burst on BOTH sides of the basement, not just the area where the dryer vent was removed. A second pipe burst on the opposite side of the room, on the interior of the house. this was a direct result of the second old hose bib spigot that was installed prior to dhc's arrival as part of the original construction of the home.Even after that information was revealed, I sent you the liability insurance for my company and as an alternative option suggested you could file a homeowners insurance claim or a claim with the HVAC contractor. A burst pipe is under the definition of homeowners coverage. You declined and said that I needed to pay for everything. My HVAC contractor and I agreed to share the cost of the repairs with you even though the Chief Building official from the city of Boulder confirmed it was not due to anything that DHC had done. Not only did we share the cost of the rebuild, I covered 100% of the cost of the plumbing repairs, clean up and water mitigation. There was a repair on the bathroom floor where we replaced exactly two tiles. This was because someone (not from the DHC team) put white tape over the old toilet flange and the crew tiled around it instead of tiling over it.We repaired this at no additional cost to you. Your on site production manager Aaron green was there multiple times per week for the entirely of the job (everyday at times) I personally visited the job site at least once a week for the entirety of the project and DHC handled 100% of the coordination and logistics for this project. Also during final inspection the city stated that they had updated their energy code rules and that we would need to replace two of the windows in the basement. Even though the city already stamped and approved the plan set that we submitted with the window specs on them, at final inspection they stated they needed to be replaced. DHC spent an additional $1,640 on these windows for labor and materials and did not charge you a dime!We also handled logistics for removing the vanity that your designer purchased for you. The vanity was not the correct size but you had no way to remove it from your home so we spent an additional $300 to send a delivery crew to your house to pick it up and take it to our designer's home. Even though DHC did not order that vanity and had nothing to do with that material selection. So in reality, the Chief Building official at your local building authority stated that DHC was not responsible for these Pipe bursting yet we still paid for 2/3 of the cost between myself and my HVAC contractor leaving you with only 1/3 of the cost.
