Boulderthon®: Boulder Marathon (Marathon, Half Marathon, 5k, 10k, Kids Run)

We had a fantastic experience running the 2022 Boulderthon Half Marathon! This was the first organized run for both myself and my 14-year-old son. We had an absolute blast! It's a great half marathon course, just the right size, super well organized, with friendly staff, volunteers, runners and spectators throughout the course. We can't wait to participate in future runs!

What a fun event. The staff and overall organization were top notch. It was such an iconic race with beautiful scenery of the sunrise at the reservoir, the fall colors and blue sky, the mountains in the background and the glorious downtown finish. Everything went so smoothly: the package pickup, gear check, parking instructions, shuttle, etc. Great attention to details all around. Loved the fun billboards for your souvenir pic and double header beer glass. Will be back next year for sure.

I ran the half marathon each of the first two years. I think there are a couple of small kinks to work out, but what race doesn't? They have nice busses that transport runners to the starting line at the beautiful Boulder Reservoir where everything is very nicely organized. The race starts in waves, which helps reduce congestion. The course is great as it travels on dirt country roads, paved pathways and streets, where there is plenty of space for runners, without having to worry about traffic. The course itself it fairly challenging and hilly, but that can be seen as a good thing. As runners approach the finish on Pearl Street, there is a huge crowd of people cheering everyone on. The medals and awards all look great too!

From the minute you arrive in Boulder you are captivated by literally being at the foothills of the mountains. Ive run races all over the country and this race and town is the most obvious of any that they know running. The expo is super unique in that because the weather is consistently great it it outside on iconic Pearl Street. The pick up location race morning is easy and well located. (Or you can get dropped off right near the start) Buses are Tour buses, not school buses so a bit fancy feeling. Start has amazing mountain and reservoir views. The marathon takes you out on some old country roads with continued great views and fields and fields of cute Prairie Dogs watching the fun! Race has some hills and if you are not from the area the elevation is an added twist but over-all this is an incredible race and well done. I also enjoyed all the local athletes out training on the same roads we were racing on, hence easily seeing what a huge running and biking community Boulder is. Id give a shout out to the gal that MCd and kept the runners informed prior to the start. She was great. Said all the right things and you could tell knows races and was from the heart glad we were at their race. Well Done BOULDERTHON! I have never turned around and signed up for any race (but Boston) and Im registered for Boulderthon 2023! Gotta see what I can do round 2!!! Cheers!
