Dr. Tyler was great, as she always is (which is the reason for 5 stars; I don't want the ineptitude of Centura Revenue Management to reflect poorly on Dr. Tyler's rating, as she has always been the most caring and attentive physician I have seen). The financial side of things was screwed up, as it always is. Centura cannot figure out how to properly bill/apply payments. Today, I was charged a $40 copay when I came in for my pre-op appointment, which consisted of nothing more than two signatures on two consent forms. My understanding is that pre- and post-op visits are included in the 'big picture' of the surgical procedure, and thus there should be no separate copays for those appointments. Additionally, Centura Revenue Management consistently mis-applies copays that are paid at the time of appointments. Those copays often somehow get allocated to completely unrelated appointments. They went so far as to apply a $40 copay (paid at the time of a GYN visit for an unrelated condition) to my thyroidectomy procedure (entirely different provider and office) that had occurred more than a year earlier, and which had a zero balance. Several months later, I received a notice that I still needed to pay the copay for that GYN visit. More recently, on 12/07/23, I was notified that I had a "new balance of $40 from Centura Service Area" that is now due. Upon digging a little deeper to see what I was being billed for, I managed to get more detailed information that showed a $40 balance from an appointment on 01/03/2023 (over 11 months earlier), for which I had already paid my $40 copay at the time of the appointment (the payment was reflected on the breakdown of the bill; the net balance works out to $0.00, yet they are still showing a $40 balance due). At each appointment, I have verified that there is no outstanding balance, yet Centura is still saying I owe ANOTHER $40 for an appointment that occurred nearly a year ago. We have had the exact same sort of issues when making copayments for our daughter's appointments. I have wasted MANY hours on the phone over the past few years trying to get all these billing issues resolved. Sadly, I usually end up making duplicate payments just to be able to NOT have to waste any more time on the phone. This really needs to stop.
