Husband broke his ankle and in a ton of pain so I brought him to this ER. He needed a wheelchair and a grumpy nurse gave one to me and muttered the way you ran in made us think it was a heart attack. Serious? The check in nurse was nicer and asked for our insurance and ID from my husband who was delirious from pain. She told us for his injury, if we didnt want to pay WAY more money, we go to an urgent care instead. We took her advice and went to an urgent care clinic. The doctor there was livid at what the Southlands ER told us and informed us that their clinic (and most Urgent Care clinics) are not equipped with the anesthetic to deal with broken bones and the ER shouldve treated us immediately! The Urgent Care doctor referred us to Centennial Hospitals ER. We got there and my husband was immediately seen and cared for by kind staff and doctors. They didnt even ask for his insurance and ID until they confirmed he was well enough to communicate! Day and night difference. Please dont waste your time with Southlands ER!

This is not a review of the Southlands ER. The staff there was friendly, professional, thorough and fully satisfied my need when I went there. I cannot say the same about Centura's billing department. Following my treatment, my invoice came for $500, the amount I expected under Colorado's no medical surprise billing law. I filled out the card attached to the invoice, provided my credit card info, then mailed it in to them. To my surprise a few weeks later, I got a past-due notice. So I called. The woman who answered seemed all indignant and defensive until it finally got through to her that I had paid my invoice and was trying to find out why I was getting late notices. So we eventually figured out that what had happened was Centura had put the payment in some kind of lock box and not applied it to my account. So we're going to straighten that out. Then yesterday Centura called me. At the time I was in one of their hospitals getting care for my father-in-law. The agent starts telling me what I need to do. Wait, I paid, right? But you have to provide proof of that.... So today I printed out my card statement, highlighted the appropriate line, wrote a letter and sent it off to them. This is sheer ineptitude, or some way of circumventing the no-surprise law by getting me to pay the bill twice. I am hoping the letter and statement provide them sufficient proof that it's their error but after the two phone calls, I'll believe it when I see it.
