CHICA Aspen

le I was in a screening, I received a phone call at 6:00pm from chica. They requested I arrive in the next thirty minutes (an hour or more before my reservation) or they would have to cancel on me because theyd decided to close early. I was in a movie and didnt get the message until I got out. Obviously bothered by this and seeking further explanation, I called the restaurant and left a message. I received a call back from John (who was apparently still at the restaurant at 8). John explained we were the only reservation on the books (which he apparently only realized at 6pm?) so he had to consider what was best for business which meant closing early and canceling on usum what? This is a business with operating hours that confirmed multiple times with me. And if I had not shown up this restaurant would have charged my card 25 dollars per person for a no-show fee. So in light of their decision to cancel on me less than 24 hours in advance (with no reason other than *shrug* it was slow) I am eagerly awaiting the 25 dollar per person fee I feel I am owed. Its only right. In the meantime, I intend to let everyone know that if you want to eat, dont make a reservation at Chica!

Today may have been either an off night or very short staffed . Took 25 minutes (it was timed) to get water to the table, and then had to place our order in twice, before they brought our meals (salads). At least compared to some of the other tables that were sitting before we got there we at least apparently got our meals at a reasonable time as some of those tables never even got meals nor their drinks. We have been to both Chica Miami and Chica Vegas and after giving this a try this year (4th time all together) I think it is safe to say that we will leave our CHICA experiences to the Miami location. And will rather go to a different restaurant in Aspen.

Chica has a fantastic atmosphere with great music, but service was a mixed bag. The host was accommodating, yet the server lacked attentiveness and friendliness. Disappointingly, the old-fashions were watered down, overly sweet, and served with too much cubed ice, detracting from the overall experience.
