      In 1995 founders Bruce Dean and Bob & Laurie Manley opened the first Black Bear Diner in Mt. Shasta, CA. Their mission was simple: create a fun and friendly atmosphere where the local community could enjoy huge portions of home-style cooking at a reasonable price. Today, we continue their mission at every Black Bear Diner across the country, as we passionately provide guests an outstanding experience. Our menu offers comfort food classics, and our entire menu is offered all day long. Whether you are craving pancakes at 8 pm or pot roast at 8 am - we've got something for everyone.       image For some reason they didn't nail the gravy so I couldn't give them a four-star or five star review. I've been having biscuits and gravy at the original location in Shasta for years and this location just wasn't as good sorry. The people were nice.

      image I love Black Bear Diner but this location was not up to the expectations. Stopped in for lunch on our way home from Oregon and when seated we asked for coffee. We had to stir the coffee with a fork as that was the only utensil at the table. Then, I witnessed the male greeter kick the buttocks of a female customer waiting to be seated. Then he made some snarky remarks and both started chuckling which led me to believe they knew each other, but really, is that acceptable behavior? BTW, our waitress was GREAT but the food wasn't even warm when we got it.
