LEARN is a program which is run by donations. Employees do not get paid well for what they do. I believe LEARN is one of the afterschool programs out there that pays to employees less than what it should be or at least comparing to other programs. They do not really involve themselves too much when theres a problem going on with a child that involves both during school time and during the program hours. They could care less, in my opinion they rather not deal with it and let the schools principal deal with it, when it some cases the principal does not do anything or much to investigate the problem the way it should be handled. Also, the lady in charge of the program would do whatever it takes for the program to not get cancelled, so that means that if you do something like speaking out since it seems they dont want to speak out about a childs problem with the parents, theyll fire employees just to wash their hands in other words they rather not deal with it and pretend like nothing happen, when on the other side you have parents complaining on how come they dont speak to parents about handling a problem. LEARN also makes employes sometimes lie or put something else (another hour) about the time that the child signs out when there is no time on the time sheets in order for them to get paid or get money donated to the program because they have to follow protocol and that means that after certain hours they get paid per child or something like that and if they dont meet the requirements then theres no money donation. So I feel they are a little too pushy on that with employees. Bad experience with this program thats just my opinion. Sorry LEARN.

Thank You Andrew for your contributions to LEARN and the staff you helped attract and train some years back. Time flies and we are appreciative of the time you had with LEARN.

Some corrections and clarifications to your review. LEARN is a 501 c (3) non-profit agency that operates on grants or contracts from Federal, state, municipal or private sources. 1) LEARN employees, such as Youth Leaders, are paid a rate of $25 per hour and is comparable to other service providers that receive similar funding and provide after school programming for students. 2) LEARN, works closely with districts and school leadership to coordinate student needs and programming goals and leads an After School Advisory Council to meet with parent representatives, principals and district officials regarding the quality of programming. 3) Staff have the ability to submit a complaint or suggestion to their Site Coordinator or area Supervisor if the need arises. While all concerns are addressed, they may not result in the desired outcome of an employee as LEARN works to adhere to the grant requirements, district regulations, needs of the granting agencies and school guidelines. If parents have a concern, they also have the opportunity to speak with a Site Coordinator and every effort is made to accommodate student's needs as is reasonably allowed. 4) LEARN accounts for accuracy on student attendance records as mandated by the California Department of Education. Our attendance reports are submitted semi-annually and are audited annually for accuracy. No employee is ever asked to "lie" on any attendance reporting of students. Employees are required to keep proper attendance records and are held accountable for this important aspect of the position.Since 2004, LEARN has received commendations from local municipalities, California State Legislature and the U.S. Congress for exemplary work providing resources for students and families in need. The Los Angeles County Office of Education commended our high school program a "model for the nation". LEARN is proud of its efforts in serving our students and families and works to maintain high standards to achieve that goal.
