I made an appointment with Henry after researching curly hair specialists in Walnut Creek. I have been embracing my natural curls for a couple of years now, but had not found someone who was able to cut my hair the way I wanted, or could replicate pictures of hairstyles I provided. Henry's reviews were excellent so I decided to make an appointment, and I'm so happy I did.  He listened to what I said I wanted, and understood immediately because he had the same vision for my hair.   He cuts curly hair dry, doesn't cut straight lines, instead works with each curl to truly sculpt the structure of my hair.  I'm passing along his info to a couple of other curly girls I know who haven't had much success in finding someone who truly understands the art of cutting curls.  It IS an art.  And...as a bonus, he is a really nice and personable guy.I have an appointment next week for root color touch-up, and will update my review when that's done.  But as of today, I am one happy curly girl.

I've been a happy client of the wonderful and talented Henry since 2016. I have referred many friends over the years and everyone, like me, loves Henry's technique and his personality even more. Truly a kind and caring person.  For this review, I will highlight the experiences of both myself and my family.First, with me. I have chemical sensitivities and was trying to find a hairdresser that could provide less toxic hair color. Henry was up to the task, and always open to trying different lines until we found just the right one. He was so patient with me, letting me borrow samples so I could take them to my doctor to get tested.  We had a lot of fun over the years, with highlights/purple pop color, and always red.  Finding a red that lasts isn't easy, but Henry has that dialed in, too, along with natural, non-toxic support products and in-salon conditioning treatments.I've included some pictures of my styles over the years.  As of 2020, I'm about 40% gray, and the color still works great!   Henry offers a non-toxic root touchup (picture a big eye shadow container with a brush) that I use in between appointments, and it works great!Henry is so caring, sensitive to my needs, a great listener and a very talented colorist. In 2017 my daughter wanted to donate her hair to cancer patients. As you can imagine, after growing her hair for 10 years, this was a little bit of a stressful event. Of course, Henry made it all fun and was very kind to her.In between the COVID shut downs I got my fiancé in to see Henry. Wow, we both agree it's the best haircut he's ever had in his life!Thank you Henry for taking care of me, my family, and my friends. We look forward to seeing you again at the next reopening!

This review is long over do. I had my first hair cut with Henry on February 1, 2019. I connected with Henry through church. It had been about two years since my last hair cut. Henry is very passionate about what he does and talkative which I don't mind because I am an introvert who doesn't really enjoy even going to hair salons, pampering, etc. Henry is great at explaining what he is doing and why. I got a dry hair cut from him which was actually really cool because you can see the look coming together. My hair had much more movement, didn't lose much length (which was my preference and he was respectful of that) and looked and felt lighter. I have recommended Henry to a friend of mine who has curly hair and gets her hair colored, and have mentioned him to other friends looking to get a hair cut. The dry cut is the way to go. Although I haven't been back for another cut just yet, I know I will return at some point.
