I was pleased to stay at a hotel that wasn't the boring, normal place I'm usually set up in for work. It was well decorated, lush, elegant, and fun. The downtown location was convenient. The rooftop restaurant was excellent with very nice cocktails! I was a single woman traveling and felt safe at the hotel. The secure parking lot helped. I travel a lot for work and my car has been broken into a couple times. I didn't have to worry about that here. The service was absolutely top notch. When I arrived, the welcome was warm and I got the information that I needed. When I later walked past the desk, they remembered me and asked how my room was. The room was a bit small and didn't have a table or desk (presumably to save space) they happily brought a marble top table and a chair in for me right away and knew exactly where to place it. It was nice that they were thoughtful about the limited space and had a table ready to bring in by request. They had food recommendations for me when I made them. The decor in the room was special. The bathroom had real tile and nice shower head. The room had a pour over coffee sachets that I was worried would be terrible... they were amazing. Highlight: the MOST comfortable bed I've stayed in at a hotel. It was soft AND firm.

First I'd like to say, I am a frequent guest at The Darling Hotel, it's my go to place when I want to get out of the saturation of LA but my recent visit ( 3/27/2024) was my first unpleasant experience. The bed is placed too close to the window and the metal curtain handles banged together the entire night with just the slightest movement making it impossible to sleep well. Then there was the bed itself. A flat sheet instead of a fitted sheet was used on the mattress and the sheets bunched up all night and by morning, the entire sheet was off the mattress and I woke up on a pile of sheets. I got very little sleep at all and woke up very tired/groggy. I expressed my concerns to Ashley (front desk receptionist upon my checkout) whom wasn't personable or sympathetic nor was she apologetic at all. In fact, she was quite rude. As I loaded up my vehicle to checkout ( 10:30am) she unprogrammed my room keycard and I was unable to reenter my room. This type of treatment is unacceptable. She wrote down my concerns and said management would be contacting me and I still haven't heard from anyone. Unfortunately, this experience has tarnished my overall view of The Darling Hotel.
