The room was in very poor conditions, not at all what the pictures show. The people were nice and the location is hard to beat. But if you are looking for something clean, comfortable, and amenities that actually work, look elsewhere. You can get something much better for maybe $50-100 more. This place is not worth the price.

Faulty door lock made me take my medication late, which could have hospitalized me. No one seemed to care about what could have happened, only that it didn't happen. Nearby activities: Art, skateboards, and jewelry being sold nearby. Lovely shops to visit nearby. Safety: Did not care much for safety. Locks did not work; first got locked out, then was able to open the door even though it should have been locked. Not staffed at all times, so with an emergency you have to wait a while. Walkability: Could walk to plenty of food, shops, and the beach within ten minutes.

Great place to stay on the beach. Did not have a vehicle, so there were no issues with parking. The local bars on each side of the hotel quieted down around 10:00 PM

The location is fantastic if you want to be on the ocean, in the middle of Venice action, and be able to walk to Santa Monica pier. The staff at the desk (at least 2 out of 3) went out of their way to help me get what I needed to have in the room: a bedside table and a lamp. That's right, no lamp, no table. It feels a bit like an old-school Y or maybe a hostel. Bare floors, and everything is fairly worn. That said, the "partial ocean views" are spectacular, you can hear the waves at night after the pounding music next door stops, and my room, at least, was really spacious. It's all about the location. Bring earplugs. Rooms: The rooms are bare bones. Almost no electrical outlets, not modernized with a desk. Kitchen has nothing, no paper towels, no pots, 1 wine glass and 2 mugs. Seriously minimal. But clean! And the bed was fine.
