Functional Medicine Doctors at Modrn Med

Please note this review is in regards to the initial contact with the clinic; I did not proceed with booking after this experience. I have to say I'm so sad and disappointed as I write this. I spent hours and days researching various naturopathic clinics and was so excited about this one after hearing from a friend who recommended Dr. Mary Pardee. I read that she no longer sees patients for GI issues but that her colleagues were just as talented and capable so I was ready to give it a go. I filled out the contact form and waited to hear back. I got an email asking me to read a lengthy FAQ document (which I did) and to then reply back with a good time to receive a phone call with a patient care coordinator. I responded and a week went by with no response to the email or call. The following week, I emailed with new times I would be available for a call. The window of time where they are able to make these calls had passed, so I decided to give them a call and see if I could schedule the phone call this way. I spoke with Jean who apologized and said they "somehow missed my emails". She set me up with a phone consult the following day, and I even received an email confirmation and reminder. That day, no one called. I called the office again and spoke with JP (I believe). He apologized and said he'd be happy to answer any questions I have. Having read their instructions to come with more detailed questions that couldn't be found in the FAQ doc, I had some important questions I needed answered before booking an appointment. Unfortunately, the answers I received were vague and even less detailed than the information I had already received. It sounded like he may not have known how to answer my questions as he was essentially describing the process of seeing a naturopathic doctor which I have seen before and was already familiar with. He asked if I was ready to schedule and I just didn't feel comfortable proceeding with a $500+ visit without better understanding their process. I would've happily paid for an opportunity to speak with someone a bit more knowledgeable about their practice to get some questions answered before jumping into a full visit. Their reviews are wonderful and this doesn't seem to be how they treat most people, so maybe I'm not the kind of client they're looking for and this is how they respond to that. I'm not sure, but it's disappointing to have to start my search over again and to not get the opportunity to find out if they could have helped me.

I've been seeing Dr. M for a few months now and am really happy with the results. I initially came to ModrnMed for reflux and GI issues. After recovering fully from that, I'm now onto longevity and optimal wellness. Dr. M is kind, compassionate, and inquisitive. I always feel like he's looking to get to the root cause of symptoms and approaches health from a full-body perspective. Highly recommend.

I've been seeing Dr. Stephen Meeneghan for a few years now and he is the best! I followed him from Cedars-Sinai to his practice at Modrn Med. I've recommended him to family, and both my cousin and aunt now go to him as well. I see him online about once a month, and look forward to my appt. He has an upbeat personality, is curious and interested, and is a kind, empathetic, and sincere person. Together, we have fixed many issues, and I'm a much healthier and happier person because of his care. I highly recommend Dr. M! He will help you, and change your life for the better...and he is so nice that it feels more like you are visiting with a friend, than a doctor. Before finding Dr. M, I interviewed and worked with seven other Naturopaths, only to find that often they were giving me advice that medically hurt me. Everything was so different from the moment I found Dr. M. he monitors and keeps tracks of things we try, and has many suggestions if something isnt the right fit; he is always very responsive online to any concerns or questions I might have. He understands lab work, and the importance it has in resolving issues; he knows what and when to order each test. Between he and my MD, I finally have the ideal care team. He is the missing link to your best health. Dr. Ms speciality is natural holistic treatments, but he is also familiar and well-versed in pharm drugs (he can script for everything but substances), so unlike an MD, he has the ability to compare everything thats available, and then present the best solution to me whether it be a supplement, a drug, a lifestyle change, or a combination of these. He understands the body in a way that MDs are not trained for; he is trained in the microbiome, diet and nutrition, and how simple vitamin and mineral deficiencies can damage our overall health. Rather than just suggesting medicines to ease symptoms, Dr. M tries to get to the root of the issue, and in many cases, it can be completely resolved, and often, in a natural way. I trust him with my health. I must also note that Jean, the office manager of Modrn Med, is fabulous. She is unlike any other medical staff Ive ever come across. She is bright, responsive, polite, and caring. She gets back to you immediately; sometimes I hear back from her at night, or on weekends! She takes her role very seriously and does an incredible job. I am always so impressed. The staff can make or break a doctors office, and in this case, Jean runs the show. You are in very good hands with her. Also, I like that you can book the appointments online. You request an available time, and she approves and calendars it. The billing is always correct, and Jean makes sure that everything runs smoothly.

It's refreshing to have a physician that listens and fights to find the root cause vs just treating symptoms. Every aspect of my life has improved since working with Dr. Williams because she truly has a holistic and individualized approach to health. I'm given choices in our approach to treatment and have the freedom to investigate each option with a skilled professional whose medicine is based on science. In addition, Jean is always a pleasure to work with and is excellent at keeping me organized.
