We really enjoyed having Viktor Painting Services do the interior of our house. They took two days and were very clean. Made sure we were happy and did a great job.

We recently hired Viktor Painting to do a full interior repaint of an ~2,600 sq. ft. home. The price was $5,500, which seemed fairly high. But the great reviews here, their quick availability, and the fact that they're a local family-owned business convinced us that they were likely highly skilled, professional painters who we could trust to do an excellent job without supervision. Unfortunately, this was not the case. The turn-around time was very quick: ~5 days (Monday - Friday). We agreed to meet on Sat. to take a look and pay them. When we arrived Viktor was eager to show us their work. With a cursory look by a layman, the job might appear to be complete and adequately done. But I worked as a painter for 2 summers, and had high quality professional painting done on a previous house elsewhere, so I know what the end result of a high quality professional paint job should look like. Unfortunately, what I saw did not rise to that level. The most obvious problem was that many of the walls did not have complete and even coverage of paint. This was especially obvious on walls where the original color was dark. We chose light, pastel colors, which often require several coats to completely cover dark paint. They said they applied 3 coats in these places, but if so it wasn't enough, as roller lines and cut lines were still visible. Many details had also been missed. There were a few spots in corners and hard-to-see places where the original paint was still fully visible. There was overspray on the thermostat, parts of the linoleum floor, and on electrical plugs (not covers). Some tape lines in less obvious spots were not straight. And they put trash in the recycling and lawn waste bins. Overall it looked like a rushed, amateur job. I politely but firmly pointed the issues out to Viktor and Entela. While they did not admit any fault or offer an apology, and tried to explain away many of the issues, they agreed to fix them. I withheld $500 until completion. I spent the next ~2 hours marking spots that needed to be fixed with tape and Viktor and his assistant began fixing them. Altogether, I spent ~4 hours dealing with this. We agreed to meet again on Sunday for another inspection. We live ~1 hour away, so this was inconvenient. I was disappointed, but was determined to get the desired result. We met again Sun. and I again checked their work carefully. It was better but coverage on some walls was still not adequate. Again they agreed to apply another coat in the places I indicated although they were visibly irritated. Entela snickered at some of my requests and Viktor commented frustratedly to Entela in their native Albanian. Ultimately when I pointed out another wall that needed another coat Entela said they could give me a new quote and schedule for any further work. I said "so you're done?" She said "yes." I looked her squarely in the eyes and said coldly "if you're done, I'm done too." I gave her the last $500. She offered some parting well wishes and quickly left. They took all the trash with them. In the end the job was fairly well done (B+/A-) thanks to my efforts and their willingness to correct the problems, which is why I gave them 3 stars instead of 1 or 2. If they had reached this quality level prior to our meeting on Sat. I would have been satisfied and would give a 4 or 5 star rating. But the fact that I had to inspect, discuss, return, and push them over the course of 2 days to get a professional result made the experience very unpleasant. And the fact that Viktor tried to pass the work off as done on Sat. when it clearly was not was pretty shady. I would not hire them again. But if you do and you expect a high quality professional result I strongly recommend that you distrust and verify, and be prepared to inspect, be firm, and withhold funds until the job is done. And to Viktor Painting, please don't put other customers through what you put us through! I know you are capable of better! Take pride in your work, and get it right the first time! If you do this your business will thrive. If not it will suffer. Services: Drywall painting, Interior painting, Wallpaper removal, Spray painting, Wood painting, Drywall repair
