Fantastic hike. Was buggy at Round Lake in early a.m. Trail well maintained. Gorgeous lake and so much exploring. Water higher than I'm used to seeing. Was great to be back. Never enough of the hike thru Big Meadow. Jaw dropping in misty a.m.

Well organized, toilet facilities, info kiosk, large lot with marked spaces. Garbage and water not available (bears be bearing). The initial crossing over the Highway can be treacherous on the curve, people in cars are maniacs and not expecting slow moving folks. No crosswalk means you are on your own kids, be careful. First bit of elevation gain to meadow is a grunt and trail is often dusty and torn up by late summer as you pick your way up or back down the rocky switchbacks. Lovely and worth it. Nice cross country ski spot, amazing butterflies and birds in late June at meadow. Restrooms: Standard modular concrete pit toilets, clean as can be with number of users. Really welcome at beginning and end of trip.
