    UPDATE: I had originally given Virginia a good review, however this last year changed my mind. She refused to return calls and emails for weeks. When I did speak to her, she did not remember what she was supposed to be doing for me and would promise things that she never ended up doing. She had my tax file for 7 months and did nothing for me to fix her own mistake. I had to go to another tax person who spotted the problem immediately. I felt very disrespected by her actions. Virginia did not seem to care that I was very unhappy with her service when I asked her why she would not return my calls and emails for weeks, saying she "didn't know" why she didn't get back to me and "must have gotten tied up with something else", which made me feel like I didn't matter as a customer. Virginia also said she "must have forgotten" to contact the IRS for months. She wasted a lot of my time, I wish I could get a refund for my tax preparation, but it's not worth it to pursue.     In all my years (and my wife's) of using accountants / tax preparers, this was clearly the worst experience either of us has ever had. Using this provider could cost you thousands of dollars (as it nearly did us) and leave you with the worst service experience you could ever imagine. This is the most brutal review I have ever written, and it is all true and documented. I only hope this woman gets out of the business, because she is doing her clients a disservice. We just filed a complaint with the IRS, and here's what we stated on our form in one section: Complete incompetence across various aspects of tax preparation (see details below). Failure to provide the depreciation schedule used to calculate taxes for our return. TERRIBLE provider service, such as failing to return calls or emails on a timely basis (24-48 hours) or not at all. Did not reply to (or even open?) a registered letter. Asked for the same information multiple times, and lost track of information provided. Work quality was so poor that the IRS flagged the return for (the IRS representative's own words) "numerous errors and omissions." The IRS ended up more than doubling the requested refund on the return she prepared (increasing our refund by over $4,000). The enrolled agent who amended our return reported the following errors: omission of some deductions for rental properties; incorrect classification of some property improvements as expenses; incorrect classification of retirement contributions; listing rental properties as passive income subject to loss limitations when, in fact, we were actively involved with the management of them, thereby making any losses fully deductible. Our final refund based on the amended return will be over $11,000--a full $8.000 MORE than our original provider asked for. So, you have to ask yourself what you have to lose by using her services... In our case, it was "at least $8,000."
