Berkley West Healthcare Center

My aunt said, this was one of the worst places she ever experienced and nursing staff were rude with attitude and sanitation was substandard. Food was horrible in taste, and presentation. No doctor on staff for long periods of time. Not a good place for rehabilitation. She came back home worse than what she was before she went there.

Avoid this place. Overall staff seems very inexperienced and doesnt follow basic protocols. My mother was there for 24 hours and it was horrible. Upon arriving, the woman that checked her in remembered that she had left another person in the bathroom for 40 minutes so she quickly disappeared to go rescue some neglected person on the toilet that was just the beginning of the house of horrors. Next the person that came to change a bandage and she had to ask them to get fresh gloves because she saw them touching a bunch of other vials of blood and paperwork before. Finally, they didnt introduce her to a PT at all during the first day there so we transferred her out ASAP. Of course, the owner told her that a transfer takes days and begged her to stay. Several people came in and BEGGED her to stay. Whats going on with this place? One saving grace was that the social worker was very nice and helpful. At least there is one professional there. My advice: stay away!

I have been greatful working here over10 mths. Is very nice to here.I cannot talk about the food because I always bring my own but they are real clean & Management is very goog.PS.Parking needs to be improved .

We were concerned about my mom living in a home. My mom broke her leg and Berkley West helped her recover. All the staff are so kind and caring. I highly recommend Berkley West.

I never write reviews but this one was very necessary. I wish I could give this place negative stars. They need new and better employees. I have to wait 50 minutes on hold just to speak to my loved ones because the nurses refuse to do their job and help the elderly patient's pick up the phone. Do not send your loved ones here unless you want them to be neglected. A nurse named Rebecca was extremely rude and condescending, when we asked why my father in law had lost 20 pounds in the 2.5 weeks he had been there, how come he had diarrhea running all down his back, she answered "you are raising your voice at me and I am going to hang up."  Before she hung up her reasoning was "we have too many patients."  I never once yelled, I was stern and upset due to the neglect and she failed to show empathy. My father in law told me he would ask the nurses to take him outside so he could get fresh air and they completely disregarded his requests. I am a pharmacist and have worked in healthcare for years and I would never treat a concerned family member the way the staff has treated us. This type of behavior and care free attitude is simply unacceptable and Rebecca should not be a nurse for anyone because that kind of behavior is how malpractice occurs. I have heard other patients complain about her service but today I experienced it for the first time myself. My father in law walked into this facility and is now too weak to even walk because he is so malnutritioned he now needs a wheel chair. He is truly the sweetest old man and does not deserve this kind of negligence.
