This review is for Lizzy Wallace (PitchPolish), I took her public speaking classes a while ago (pardon the delay in posting this) through General Assembly and she was FANTASTIC! I do hope she'll be doing more in the future. Such real-world and practical advice, she give you the tools to help and be more confident with networking and public speaking. She's a gem!

Came here for the Tech and Food event a while back. I've always wanted to attend courses at GA but never had the adequate time when I was at previous employers. I still receive their emails on courses and should probably look into some virtual courses. I appreciate how they have free workshops available- should take advantage of attending some of those in my downtime. I was super excited for this event and didn't know what to expect. Finding parking was a cinch since there are parking structures everywhere in SM. I'd say the session had a good amount of guests as majority of the seats were taken. After checking in, we selected our seat and waited as others trickled in. Hearing about the guest speakers' experiences and knowledge was of course the best part. Each one was either a CEO, Co-Founder, or Engineer of a Food Tech biz (Resy, ChowNow, Soylent, Dishdivvy) and we had complimentary food from Lemonade.  GA has so many courses and workshops, you're bound to find something that sparks your interest. Intro to Digital Marketing, Wordpress, SEO, UX, Excel, SQL, Python, Data Analytics, Javascript, etc. Companies should look into these programs if they have employees who might be interested in taking these as I'm sure the takeaways will enhance their performance in everyday work and may certainly may lead for a company to run more  successfully.

I took the Part-Time Data Science course here at the Santa Monica branch and had a great experience. All the counsellors and instructors were extremely helpful. They would go out of their way to make sure I understood all of the topics and created a great learning environment. After taking this course, my current company gave me opportunities to work with the Data Science team. I've become more literate in this field and this course has gave me the foundations needed to start.

I am a recent graduate of the UXDI Immersion program and I can't say enough great things about the education I received. It was comprehensive, thorough, and gave me everything I needed to transition from my previous career in Graphic Design, to my new role as a UX/UI Designer. The classes are fast-paced, jam-packed with information, and the instructors I had were always ready to help me through any rough spots or explain concepts I struggled to grasp. We had 3 main projects to work on, 1 alone, and 2 team projects. Each was designed to eventually become full case studies for our portfolios. The third project enabled us to work with a real client and create a working design to put in our portfolios. We spent an extended amount of time creating and revising our portfolios to be professional and competitive as we look for work. Each student is matched with a career counselor to help you prepare your resume, LinkedIn profile, and job search. This assistance is ongoing throughout your search and beyond if you need it. I found the instruction to be invaluable and the other members of my cohort are now close friends and colleagues. The program is expensive, but for me it was a worthwhile investment in my career.

I'm a fan! I've been eyeing a handful of GA courses for a while now and finally tried an email marketing workshop last night. I wasn't sure what to expect and was half expecting the entire workshop to be a sales pitch for one of their more full time courses, but it wasn't that in any way, shape, or form. I mean, I'm sold on taking another class because the info was so useful, but there was no real hard selling going on. The class was two hours (we went a little over because people were late and there were questions) and packed to the brim with information. For $55 (which I got half off during the black Friday sale), I'd say it was a steal. The space itself is simple and not quite as nice as I expected it to be, but definitely had what we needed for the workshop (i.e. a private room, a projector, and lots of white board space). The smell inside is what I can only describe as "thrift store-y". They do have coffee and tea onsite, although I didn't check out that set up. Our instructor did mention this space is moving and it seems like it's moved before within Santa Monica. Excited to check out their DTLA location and take a more in depth course in the future!
