La Cebollita

We try hard to avoid chains, and we are always willing to take a chance on a well-rated restaurant that doesn't look like much from the outside. The Little Onion (La Cebollita) was a great find in a shopping mall facing a busy street, which had multiple options (Thai food and seafood within 100 feet). The steak was awesome (well-seasoned, perfectly cooked, tender), the churro pancakes were wonderful (and no, they are not MADE of churros but they have the cinnamon cake-like quality of a churro), and the machaca was fine. Margaritas were on the small side, but since we were eating at noon this may have been a good thing. There is free parking in the lot in front of the restaurant, more seats than you would expect from the outside, and there are stools at the bar if you prefer that option. Our server was great and attentive, and we were seated immediately at a nice window table. They encourage cash or Zelle, which is just fine with us. On atmosphere, once you are inside you know you are going to love the food -- but you can't earn a five on that dimension if your front door opens onto a parking lot along a busy street. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, full range of options. Parking: Shared lot with the mall, but there were open spaces.
