This school lacks professionalism. The office staff is rude, the principal doesn't care to respond to genuine concerns, and some teachers here talk down to parents as if we're stupid. Loma Vista is the only school I've ever stepped foot in that makes students and families feel so unwelcome.

We spent 12 years at this school, through several principal changes, boundary changes, teacher changes.  Overall, we had an EXCELLENT experience.    As a white caucasian, I love that my child had a school with a healthy cross section of students with a wide variety of backgrounds:  that is critical to develop empathy and awareness.   Unfortunately, we just missed the formation of the Dad's group, which is an AMAZING addition.   Every school will have teachers that are best suited to your child:   one of mine needed a more rigid organization system and a higher level reading/writing challenge, and the other needed more multisensory (e.g. art, science) opportunities. Our kids are both well behaved, but they each have their own challenges academically and socially.   I saw it as my job to make a bond with each teacher, demonstrate appreciation and support, and watch for how my child struggled compared to others so that I could support her at home.   It's a partnership.  I will admit that there were some weaker/stronger teachers and stronger teachers/principals, but that is every school.   I can see how the PTO can seem cliquey - a small group of people do a very large amount of volunteer work to support the school, and they bond pretty tightly.   Although I am certain that a new volunteer would be welcomed with open arms,  I personally preferred to support my student's individual teacher so that I could be a "fly on the wall" in the classroom.    I think the overall education that our kids received at Loma Vista, Hewes, and Foothill was excellent.    Both went to college, and both commented that they felt well prepared by TUSD in comparison to their peers from other schools, particularly in their writing skills.
