Warning! Nick is not to be trusted!! After we lost our house in the wildfires, Nick said he would hold our table we paid for. He then lost the table and then refused to give our deposit back. He gave us no reason. He was even rude to my wife when she asked for our deposit back. Then he just ghosted us. Beware!!

Was worried about a redwood tree in my backyard after a few trees had fallen in the neighborhood after some crazy winds. Reached out to Nick to inquire about what cutting it down would look like. He gave us some options but recommended we talk to a consulting arborist who could tell us if they thought the tree has any signs of distress. He didn't think the tree needed to be cut down and seemed to genuinely care about keeping trees alive and only cutting them down as a last resort. We took his advice and got the tree trimmed instead. It will probably be around well past my lifetime. Thanks Nick!

I will not recommend this company. Nick, I'm very disappointed with your lack of sensitivity and professionalism. It is easy to blame others and not recognize your errors. You were very kind, and we enjoyed working with you UNTIL what we had to offer as clients stopped working out for you. Then, another version of you was shown. I think it Is understandable for people to have a budget. We expressed what was ours, and you helped us and worked around our needs. When we lost our home, you were kind enough to save our table without us asking for it. Then we donated our trees to your company and asked you for a few as they emotionally meant to us. You came to our property and realized they were useless to you. It was too much work. So yes, we found amazing people down here who understand the loss of a lifetime due to a wildfire, and we all worked together as a community. And man, I'm glad that happened cause we wouldn't have gotten that from you. Especially after you attacked our personal opinion of how poorly you managed to problem-solve the situation once we reached out to you to get our table back, and you no longer had it to offer. When we reached out, we were not accusatory over the payment. And we immediately apologized and recognized only $200 was spent as a deposit. What you are not communicating with the rest is how poorly we were treated on that call, so we decided not to want to work with you again. You raised your voice to us, had a dismissive attitude, and had a bullying tone. After that, we sent you emails, one after the other, for a whole month, requesting our refund (for the table we wanted to pay for, that you supposedly held for us and carelessly lost), which you ignored every single one of them. I'm sorry, but I don't think it takes much to respond to an email. And now you act all hurt and defensive and make public part of our loss and sorrow. I have never written a review before, but your attitude is unacceptable. Sorry, but you are not a good person, and you are, to me, unprofessional and immature.

Absolutely love my custom slab for the standing desk I built! Nick (owner) was great to work with: very responsive, knowledgeable and accommodating. He quickly understood exactly what I was looking for and I couldn't be happier with the end result - high quality and absolutely stunning. Will definitely be going here for all my wood needs. Not to mention feeling good about supporting a business that gives new life to fallen trees.

Nick is a professional and all around good guy. He helped me get in touch with somebody to help remove and mill several large redwood trees in my yard. He also helped us construct and finish the kitchen table of my wife's dreams. I enjoyed my interactions with him and his company very much. Service: Table construction & installation

At Bay Area Redwood we strive to live by the motto the customer is always right, but sometimes the customer is unreasonable-- this is one of those cases and why Bay Area Redwood primarily focuses on large commercial projects now.In many cases we have been able to deal with unreasonable clients in private and not in a public venue -- today we will be sharing our side of the story to Aaron's negative review. To say we cannot be trusted is absolutely false.Aaron and Marie reached out to us in July of 2020 during the middle of COVID to get a coffee table; after numerous back and forth we decided to work with them and took a paltry $200 deposit on a project that was not to exceed $1000 (after they previously mentioned a higher budget). In any case though, their custom made piece was ready in late August 2020 a few days after the estimated lead time -- in turns out the CZU Fire hit their community of Bonny Doon. I remember the phone call I was making when I was letting them know their piece was ready because I knew that community had burned down; in the first instant of the call it was apparent they had lost their house.I have a question for you as the reader: what do you do as a business owner who custom made a piece and are entitled to payment on it when the client has something like this happen? I offerred to hold off on payment and they could pick it up later... what is later you ask?Well I heard from them like 6 or 8 months later (in 2021) and they asked to help turn their burned trees into wood. Then they tried to sell them to us; we don't buy wood -- we recycle fallen trees. Then 2 more years pass and they reach out and ask what's going on and I mentioned we had moved facilities and I personally didn't know where there piece was (which was never fully paid for). I was then accused of them saying they fully paid -- they didn't and I have a copy of the text message of where they apologized saying they were wrong. Apparently this is where Aaron is saying I was rude when they accused me of something that was false? In this same conversation they asked if we'd make a new coffee table when there house was ready AND if we could make a table from their trees (I guess they had someone else mill it?).Fast forward to today another 6 months to a year and I get this email out of the blue while I'm preparing a vacation to go to Chilean Patagonia and they ask for a $200 refund -- 3.5 years since this started. It is unfortunate they lost their house in a fire; I did my best to be understanding in that situaiton -- I tried to help them reuse their trees, their piece was misplaced and I offered to make them a new one which they agreed to then changed their mind.It has been 3.5 years though and I have poured probably 10 hours into all of my interactions with them and clearly my time has no value to them and I cannot afford to dedicate additional resources to Aaron and Marie because they are a drain of energy and time on me and the business.

Maria is Aaron's partner who posted a negative review yesterday. We responded in detail and Maria decided to write this second negative review -- her first review.
