Dr Hwang was not the first surgeon I saw, but he was the last. When he explained to me what was wrong with my back, it made sense and for the first time in 20 years. I knew I would be in excellent hands. My surgery went smoothly and Dr Hwang is always there to answer any question I have. I am forever grateful to this man.

I had an excellent experience as a patient of Dr. Hwang. He was thorough in his evaluation and testing and ultimately had to give me a daunting diagnosis. He did so with a lot of care and compassion. He made himself available to answer all of my questions in the office and by email and it prepared me mentally for surgery. His office staff were also very responsive when I had questions or needed to schedule appointments. I went into the surgery with some apprehension but confident in Dr. Hwang. The surgery went as planned and my recovery has been really smooth. I am so grateful that I was referred to Dr. Hwang for my care.

dr hwang didn't take the time to assess my injury, and brushed it off. a 2nd opinion from a better doctor found severe problems that dr hwang didn't even consider.

I was referred to Dr. Kevin Hwang by Dr. Lyndly Tamura, following failed conservative treatment for a L4-5 synovial cyst. I was immediately impressed with Dr. Hwang, in that he thoroughly explained the surgical procedure that I needed, and answered all my questions with understanding and patience. The staff and Dr. Hwang made a great effort to schedule my surgery quickly, as I was having severe pain and unable to function in my daily activities. Remarkably, I went into Marin Health Hospital at 10am and was home in my own bed by 4:30pm. I experienced immediate pain relief after the surgery, and my post-op recovery was uneventful, needing very little pain meds . I returned to my prior level of function and complete pain relief, 6 weeks after surgery. I am very grateful to Dr. Hwang and all the staff at UCSF/Marin Health for their care.

I couldn't be happier with the decompression surgery performed by Dr Hwang on my back...... Not only is he an excellent surgeon but his true talent are the consultations before and after the surgery... He is precise, educates in terms easily understood with the options facing his patients as to which procedure would best serve the condition you have... I couldn't be happier than my choice of Dr Hwang as my surgeon... I have a neck issue also and if surgery is required I will listen very carefully to his recommendations and make the decision fully informed and with complete confidence... If you have any spinal issues I cannot recommend Dr Hwang enough... He is a truly brilliant surgeon and excellent patient advocate... Chris Clarke
