Amy Kobalter, MD

I've been treated by Dr. Amy Kobalter for more than 25 years.  About 27 years ago, she saved my life!I went to see her for a routine check up and she noticed a very small spot near my left knee.  She carefully examined it and, in an abundance of caution, biopsied it.  It turned out to be melanoma.Since the spot was right above a nerve on my left leg, I had to have a microsurgeon in San Francisco excise it.  He told me I was extremely fortunate the dermatologist biopsied the spot and that "not 1 in 100" would have taken that precaution!I've been melanoma free since that surgery, thanks to routine checks Dr. Kobalter performs on me twice a year.  Now and then, she removes spots that aren't quite right.  Of course, I trust her with my life since she already saved it once!My advice: Dr. Kobalter is THE dermatologist to see in the BayArea!  She is extremely bright and has a wonderful manner.  Her staff is most professional, too.

Called for appt today and was told Dr. Kobalter is not accepting new patients.

Amy is spectacular - she treats both of my parents for melanoma and checks me given the history! Even my son is now a patient. Her bedside manner, her knowledge, and her talent, are all exceptional!

Dr Kobalter and her staff are fantastic. I would recommend them to friends.

The first time I saw Dr. Kobalter she rushed into the room late and was not even aware that I was a new patient until she had been there about 5 minutes.  She remained rushed and checked me quickly, told me to get some Retin A then left.  I went back to discuss another spot I had found and the Retin A...rushed and rather condescending.  I have called for an appointment 3 times and have gotten no call back...found another Doctor.
