I stayed at Hampton San Mateo for five nights while my father was at UCSF. It was a 30 min drive, but for me it was worth it. It is very clean and modern. Location is great. The bed was comfortable. They have shower stalls or shower over tub. The breakfast was great. Coffee was delicious (I am picky). Rosalie in the breakfast section was so friendly and helpful. Free parking is a plus. The front desk staff was also very friendly.

We arrived late and checked out very early. Therefore I can't give a lot of information. However, the hotel looks and smells new. Everything was very clean to the naked eye. Cleanliness is extremely important to me, and I am picky. We stayed here for not only their Cleanliness rating but also because of its proximity to the SFO airport. It took us less than 20 min to get there. There is a Dennys that you can walk to, although I do not recommend it. It smelled and looked dirty. There are stores, restaurants, and gas stations nearby. Parking is free and is outdoors. The only thing of concern was that there was a plastic bag hanging from the smoke detector in our room. Like I said, it was late when we checked in and we checked out about 4 a.m., so I forgot to mention it to the staff.
