image When I was in high school locally, the options weren't great at the time so my parents went the private route.  I wouldn't think twice about sending my boys to HHS. The small learning communities model is genius and the extracurriculars are varied and quality. As an educator, my bar is pretty high and the teachers and administration at Hillsdale have proven top notch. At Back to School Night, I was so impressed with the resumes of each teacher; each was highly educated, clearly engaged and the level of care and nurturing is obvious. When my son needed support, I reached out to his advisor Amy Rally and counselor Jenny Rienzo and received such helpful feedback and guidance.  Highly recommend Hillsdale High School; Go Knights!

image Love this school. Small learning communities is the key to what makes Hillsdale High special and unique. This is the smallest high school in the San Mateo Union High School District. The teachers and administration are top notch here. They are experienced, smart, know how to engage students and they really care about your student. They make a huge effort to get to know your student as people with interests. The curriculum is rigorous just as any high school. They offer college prep as well as AP level courses. There is a wide variety of academic classes and electives. Some classes are through College of San Mateo which offer some courses on campus, some up at CSM, enabling students to push their limits beyond high school and to gain both high school & college credits at the same time. Best of all, CSM classes are free to SMUHSD students. At Hillsdale, they offer wonderful opportunities to  participate in many options such as concert band, wind ensemble, jazz band, concert orchestra, chamber orchestra, leadership, dance ensemble, drama, choir groups, photography, computer science, media, & child development, to name a few. Many sports options are offered and every student is encouraged to join. What I like is that there is a place at the table for everyone here and the welcoming atmosphere. Sports include football, baseball, volleyball, swimming, water polo, cross country, track & field, basketball, tennis, badminton, among others. There are roughly 50 clubs for students to join. Parents, families and the community are invited to participate and volunteer in many activities at the school.  Aside from the many sports, clubs and events one can volunteer in, there is also the Parent Teacher Student Organization as well as The Hillsdale High School Foundation, which offer many fun events to be a part of. The special education program here is stellar and the school has all students interact with each other. I have three kids who have attended/attending Hillsdale and they all love the school. Academically they have flourished and made life long friends with students and faculty. They have been well prepared for college and beyond. I highly recommend Hillsdale High.
