Serious Dumpling

i came to serious dumpling on a sunday night at around 8 pm and had the pleasure of tasting the garlic noodles. soooo good. also the person i came with was sooooo awesome (her name was naomi)

The dumplings and noodles were okay. Just average. The vegetables were amazing! We ordered the kale, cabbage and green beans (kale #1). The portions were very small though and way too expensive. $13 each.

Ordered the glass noodles, vegetarian SJB (sen jian bao- pan fried dumplings), shrimp har gao, and ube dumplings. There weren't that many vegetarian options, especially no vegetarian dumplings with broth which was a bit disappointing. Both the shrimp har gao skin and the glass noodles felt a bit soggy/ not as chewy as expected, giving them an unsatisfying texture and mouth feel. The vegetarian SJB were better, they pan fry the bottom so there's a really nice crispy crunch, but the fillings weren't that flavorful. The ube dumplings dessert was also fine, but the skin once again had a slightly mushier feel. Service was also a bit slow, there was only one server who was doing their best for a packed restaurant during Sunday lunch.

It's convenient if you are in the downtown area but I've had significantly better places for dumplings and ramen. I found the food overly sweet and not that savory. The food has a weird greasy taste/feel. The garlic needles are a bust. The monk SJV which are pan fried dumplings were quite good. Dumplings overall are pretty decent but they are on the sweeter side.
