Shana did such an amazing job for my wedding! I have almost zero knowledge of hair and makeup, and the few times I've been a bridesmaid it seems like makeup artists haven't known what to do with me. The results in the past have not been great. So when I started looking into hair and makeup for my own wedding, I was nervous. To make things more complicated, I was wearing an orange wedding dress, so I needed makeup that would work with my nontraditional look. I contacted Shana at Fox and Doll because her portfolio spoke to me, and I really enjoyed talking with her over the phone. I decided to work with her, and I'm so glad I did. At my practice session, Shana did such a great job listening to me and finding a look that felt right for me, and I left looking naturally gorgeous. On the wedding day itself, it was so much fun working with Shana. My bridesmaids and I all enjoyed talking to her. She was very organized and professional, and she had clear COVID safety protocols that I appreciated. She made me, my bridesmaids, and my mom look fantastic, and she was a calming presence during the "getting ready" portion of the day. Our guests commented on how gorgeous our hair and makeup looked, and it turned out so well in our photos. I would absolutely work with Shana again!

I am a Bay Area commercial and portrait photographer and have been working with Shana for over ten years. Not only is she meticulous in the presentation of her make-up, hair supplies and brushes, she is always on time, professional, pleasant and fun to work with! I feel like so many creatives have been moving out of The Bay Area, especially the last two years and I'm so glad that Shana is still here and that we are able to continue to work together. I don't know anyone else that specializes in vintage looks either and Shana is the expert. In the past I've taken a cat eye make-up class from here and I even hired her to do my sister's make-up for a personal shoot ,and again, we had the best time and she made my sister feel so loved. Thank you Shana for all that you do.

I've worked with Shana on a few occasions over the past several years and have always enjoyed her. My hair and makeup on the shoots where I've used her look SOOOO good - and so much better than photoshoots where I didn't.

I was so excited to work with Shana at Fox and Doll. I don't often splurge but decided to do so for my wedding. She was an absolute sweetheart on our intro call and immediately made me feel like she was the only woman for the job. There was something soft about her that really instilled confidence in her abilities and experience. I hired her immediately after that call. Once my month of coordinator took over and emailed her to get schedules in order, I noticed a shift in her tone. She was curt with my planner and did not seem to want to work with her and emailed me instead of my planner. Thankfully my planner told me not to worry and that even though she wasn't pleasant to work with, she had no issues working through it. I hired her to do my hair and makeup plus the hair of my bridesmaids and mom. When I look at my wedding photos, you can see that my updo was falling out during our first look photos, so it barely made it a couple of hours. This was before a veil ever touched my hair. I even found my very expensive hair pins on the floor because those were not properly pinned in place. By dinner my updo had fallen so much it turned into a half updo. My mom's hair also never made it through the night. This obviously didn't hinder our special day, but this is not the standard I'd expect for what I paid. When I kindly emailed her about this, she could not have been more rude and arrogant. She did apologize that it happened but was filled with excuses, one being that it was because she normally snacks so her blood sugar must have been low which is why she didn't pin things better or tell us how to properly place the veil (though my hair fell prior to any veil). She even agreed to do a little body makeup for me, but never did. I explained she may be very talented but possibly had an off day and that I think a slight discount was in order but she said I can simply just not tip her 20%, apparently she thought she's entitled to a tip and that my not tipping would account for the discount. Considering how special a wedding day should be, I do not think this is the vendor you want prepping you or who you want to coordinate with. There are so many great artists and stylists that I'd wished I'd gone with someone else. Fortunately my other vendors were all AMAZING. It's disappointing she is so rude once she has her money and does not work up to the standard (at least for bride prices, apparently our hair needs to cost 4 times as much). Another tip: She made me pay in full using Venmo so I'd recommend getting whatever insurance on that transaction in case anything goes wrong or she cancels. Better luck to the rest of you!
