I was absolutely terrified to get a root canal and Dr.Wirig and his team were patient and kind. I had a great experience! Didnt feel a thing. It was quick and easy. If youre scared like me, dont worry you are in great hands!

I was referred for a same day emergency root canal (I had cracked the majority of my tooth off and was in a lot of pain). Dr. Wirig was super welcoming and friendly, made sure I was comfortable, and took time to explain everything to me. Highly recommend!

Was referred by my dentist- Marina Tooth Fairy (Floor 5 at 2001 Union Street). At first I was extremely nervous as this being my first ever root canal. Dr. Wirig and his team made me feel at ease straight from the start. I had a permanent crown recently replaced (due to a crack) and it reignited some sensitivity so I had to have a root canal. The treatment was virtually painless and once the numbness wore off the sensitivity in my tooth was gone. MAGIC. I would possibly air on the side of caution if you have a temporary crown as they may crack my permanent crown withstood the crown procedure and it was super easy for my dentist to patch up the work at a later stage extremely happy and would be back to this practice again in future if needed (but hopefully not) hahaha no offence. :-)

I went to see Dr. Wirig upon my Dentist's referral for a root canal retreatment. I'm not sure why she referred me to see Dr. Wirig. When I got there, I did an X-ray scan. He came into the room, a bit boisterous and a tad obnoxious with some arrogance in his tone of voice. He said we have some good news and bad news. He said we have 2 choices: To do a root canal and save the tooth and go back to my dentist to restore the tooth, or extract the tooth if it's broken. He did one more x-ray and couldn't see anything, so he made me pay $190 to do a Conebeam scan to scan all around my mouth. I said fine. Conebeam scan done. He continued to tell me yea, I don't know. There's a 50/50 chance the tooth is broken. I asked him what's his take on it. He said well, I suggest opening up the crown to do a root canal to save the tooth if it can be saved. The bad news we might expose the tooth to infection and the tooth might end up being broken. he told me to come back tomorrow since I was late and we didn't have enough time since he had to leave at 5pm. So I said okay. I came back the next day. He opened up my crown a tiny bit at the bottom and stuck some idk root canal pieces in different sizes in the canals. I have no idea what he had done! Anyways, upon doing so, he stuck some things in the canal (I think...). I can hear him doing that and it was quite unsettling. Worse, he kept sighing in frustration and kept mumbling unreassuring things while his patient (me) is worried and anxious as I hear him sigh in frustration and he was huffing and puffing like he was working on my tooth real hard like he was trying his hardest to save my tooth, and I think he was sweating a lot too. No reassurance for his patient. He was also aggressive and rough maybe due to his stubby fingers. I was scared he was gonna purposely break my tooth and tell me "Well, I tried to do the root canal, but when I went in and saw what's underneath there, it's actually broken. I'm sorry." I think he just wants me to get a tooth extraction and call it a day! How will your patient ever feel at ease if you keep sighing in frustration and then he kind of rude to his employees like they didn't know how to do to x-ray. He left the room. Honestly, though, I felt like his employees don't even know how to do an x-ray because they kept making redo it several times like they were clueless or something.. He came back into the room. And he was like now that's better! I was laying there and I was like alright awesome! that means my tooth can be saved! Wrong! He continued to stick those root canal thingies in there and he was still frustrated, huffing and puffing still. He told me that I can do the root canal today or I can think about it over the weekend. I said I will think about it.I went to see my old dentist get a second opinion, but he said that he cannot redo a root canal and doesn't want to be liable for it since he's not an Endodontist. So he gave me a referral for Dr. Eric Wong. I saw Dr. Wong today. He did an x-ray and said there was nothing wrong with my tooth. He said in fact, he wouldn't suggest that I do a root canal again. The reason for that is this: He said that he be happy to do the root canal and fix the canal that was not placed properly, but he can't guarantee there won't be any infection with the new crown because he doesn't want to create more issues for my tooth. He also said that since I do not have any pain or any bumps on my tooth I should be fine and there's nothing to worry about. He said to come back to him if it does bother him.He suggested that I get the report regarding what Dr. Wirig did to my tooth from my dentist and send him the Cone beam scan so he can have a look to see what Dr. Wirig did. So I am going to do that instead! I also asked the receptionist to have my dentist contact me, so I can tell her what happened. Plus Dr. Wong teaches at USF. So I would think he has the latest technology and knowledge as he needs to constantly update his own lectures every year!  Thank you, Dr. Wong... Goodbye Dr. Wirg...
