We received extremely disappointing service at the San Francisco Aveda store at the Westfield on Market Street. We visited the store as instructed to return product that has not been working well for me, causing allergic reactions. Upon arrival, we approached staff to initiate the return process, and to our surprise, the staff member claimed that she did not know how to process returns and directed us to do it online. However, we kindly asked if she could consult a supervisor or someone knowledgeable about returns. She informed us that we should wait for the manager to arrive at the store. Considering the wait, we asked if we could leave the products with the staff and return after a few minutes, to which she agreed. Upon our return, the manager, rather abruptly, accused us of leaving the products behind. We were taken aback by her hostile attitude. Furthermore, she claimed that she could not find my order in the system, despite providing her with the order number, receipt, email, phone number, and all information. Throughout the entire process, she displayed a consistently rude demeanor, pretending not to hear or understand my inquiries, often shrugging and smirking dismissively. Despite feeling disrespected, we persisted in attempting to find a resolution by suggesting that we call Aveda's customer service directly. Shockingly, the manager refused to allow us to speak during the call, further exacerbating the situation. We were not only unable to return the product and left feeling deeply humiliated. In the meantime, she seem to be nice to many of the other customers who were, by coincidence, different race/ethnicity. This experience has left me deeply disheartened, as I have brought so many Aveda products in the past and am currently a tier 4 reward member. I expected at least professionalism from an Aveda store manager, especially when addressing valid concerns and seeking a reasonable solution. The whole experience was horrible.
