I recently had complex lead extraction and replacement at UCSF and while I was seen post op by many MD's and Cardiologists I see now in My chart that DR CHOI was the one ordering all the tests and making decisions. He is a very wise and personable Doctor who made the decision regarding when I was ready to go home, I'm home now and doing very well. Anybody who is fortunate enough to have Dr, Choi in charge of their case is in the best hands available, I can't thank him enough for what he did for me.

I had a 2nd opinion with Dr. Choi about my angiogram based on information he could access in my UCSF MyChart, while I dont (Isnt it strange that I dont even get a copy of the doctors report of my angiogram?) . Choi urged me to do Bypass Surgery instead of getting stents for my 3 coronary arteries blockage. He didnt tell me why except that he wouldnt do my stents. He made it seem like they were ineffective for me. It was after I had surgery and read some more medical journal articles in both PubMed & American Heart Assn that I found that his statement was incorrect. One can still get stents if ones arteries is 80-99% blocked. At that time, I was under a lot of subtle pressure from different cardiologists at UCSF to do my surgery (with that unprofessional female cardiac thoracic surgeon). She turned out to be my biggest mistake. Not only was her skills questionable, it also resulted in my entire pre-surgery normal upper left body with 25% mobility now. I have difficulty sleeping every night because of the aches and tightness across these parts of my body. Every night, Im suffering and is seeking different post surgery treatments to heal my body. I truly regret not researching deeper instead of giving my full trust. If you have 99% blockage, you could still get stents in your arteries. Thereafter you must be exceptionally careful about your diet to prevent clogging. There now appears exists a diet that reverses plagues in arteries. Do not let any anyone subtly pressure you into getting unnecessary surgery. Do your research, Ask questions. Its your body after all. Read and take your time to decide. If any doctor does not take the time to explain the before, during and after surgery procedures to you, run & find another. Dr. Arthur Hill May be the only UCSF cardiac thoracic surgeon worth going to. From his patients review of him & with years of experience. I had wanted him as my surgeon but was told he was not available, at least 8 times. That too was a lie. Only yesterday on 8/7/2023 I discovered he betrayed my trust.

My father has been under the care of Dr. Choi following his heart attack several months ago. Dr. Choi was the attending cardiologist at CPMC, who performed the angioplasty. We really liked Dr. Choi from the moment we met him at the hospital: he is a truly genuine doctor and a human being, who cares about his patients, has a great bedside manner and is very easy to talk to. We continue to see Dr. Choi for regular follow-up appointments, where we get plenty of opportunities to ask any and all questions, and under Dr. Choi's care my father is doing great. I'd also like to acknowledge the friendly staff at Dr. Choi's office: every call/question/conversation/appointment is handled with great care and sensitivity. We highly recommend Dr. Choi and his office to anyone looking for a carrying and attentive cardiologist.

Doctor is great and knowledgeable but his office management is extraordinarily unhelpful. The lab where you get the EKG done is separate from their office, and I needed to expedite results because I'm going on vacation. The doctor told me to call if I hadn't heard from him in a few days. When I called, their immediate attitude was defensive and that they hadn't gotten the readings back from the clinic, and that it was not their problem and they couldn't do anything about it because it's a separate office, even though it's all under UCSF...couldn't do anything, like even make a simple phone call to follow up on the status? I don't know if they would have ever followed up with the clinic if they never heard back from them about a patient's results? Not a fan of such lazy customer service.
