Nice spot to park and view the entrance to the Bay. Used to be a reflecting pond but no longer.

Its a nice place to visit if youre around the area, its free just like parking is. I went during the weekend so there were a ton of cars parked and we had to walk just to get there. The view from that spot is nice and calm. According to the info i read it says the following information: The citizens of Yokohama, Japan presented the Friendship Bell to San Diego in May 1958 as part of the Centennial Celebration of formal relations between that country and the United States. It also served to mark the establishment of the sister city relationship between San Diego and Yokohama, which was the first such affiliation on the West Coast. The large bronze bell housed in a pagoda structure was designed by artist Masahiko Katori.

Every new year, at 1130pm the Japanese Buddhists commemorate the offering of this bell by Japan to the US. By ringing it more than 108 times, it brings fortune to the ones who ring it, so if you are looking for something different to do on new year's eve, come over and ring the bell
