I applied at the Department of Rehabilitation believing that I would receive assistance in finding work. Yes, they did assist me with interview clothing, resume writing and job search skills.  There is a job club held twice weekly which turned out to be ok except that they told me that my two page resume must be only one page. They tore it apart. Yesterdays Union Tribune employment article states that it is making an older person almost look unexperienced to have a one page resume. I felt the same way. It was my opinion that I needed to tie together my experience to show how it all works together to make a really experienced Administrative Assistant. I had three job interviews, two with the City and one with the state. I was not hired. The DOR did not help prepare me with the interview and what to focus in on. They were more focused on me wearing a black and white suit and a one page resume with three copies. I really needed help with interview and taping. I know it is my fear and weak spot. I am still without work. The helped give an over qualified woman with a bachelor's a clerk typist job in legal. I to interviewed for the position with an Associates. I am the qualified person. I guess I need a wheel chair and Spanish to get in right?

I'm giving this "organization" 0 stars.  I've attempted to get some kind of help from them 3 different times and they TOTALLY don't care.  They are just there to get their paychecks.  The people I've met are miserable human beings.  DON'T waste your time... it WON'T be worth it!!Especially if you see Luis Martinez-- he's a total loser!! (and "Senior Vocational Rehab "Counselor")--useless.
