I had the opportunity to work with Dr. van der Voort and I would recommend him as a psychologist. He is extremely dedicated to his work and puts a primary focus on patient-centred care.  Dr. van der Voort is highly skilled working with various presenting problems and also has specialized training in areas such as substance use. His colleagues often went to him for consultations as his knowledge and clinical judgment were highly respected.

I rarely write reviews but my visits with Dr. V really got under my skin. When I would tell him what I was going through he would smirk. When I told him my symtoms of anxiety he said "maybe that's how it is". Dr V spent no time studying me, what people with anxiety or paninic disorder go through. I think this may be because it's probably not his field (which he shouldn't advertise as it is) HERE IS THE BEST PART : I called, texted and emailed him to reschedule. He got back to me an hour before the appointment and asked how I was doing. As my psychologist I thought he was worried about me and was asking about my symptoms. When I told him I had a bumpy week he stopped me to say " i actually called to see when you can pay for your missed appointment fee" i said I'll be there whenever you reschedule me and I will pay in person. He said he "doesnt feel comfortable" to reschedule until the fees are paid. He said he will charge me the full fee of $160 for missing the appointment. I CANNOT BELEIVE I was pouring my heart out and all he cared about was his fees. I WILL NEVER recommend anyone to him. I spent 2 afternoons there for "therapy" all I got was "times up" when I was telling him about what I've gone through. There was never a treatment plan or anything as promised. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. DR. V. I hope you read this and feel ashamed.
