I was admitted into inpatient years ago, and I still have nightmares of the place. Zero transparency from staff, with no explanation of your new situation. Even with all the members of staff around, I still distinctly remember my roomate still being able to self harm. I also remember being terrified of my projected volume, because at one point a girl across the hall was disruptive at night, and she was promptly sedated.
I do really hope the place has improved, because turning your life around with fear of being sent back is no way to improve at all.

If I can give a negative 5 stars to this place I will. They are all about the money when it comes to the military. This place was more like a prison rather than a place to heal for your mental issues. There was very little to decompress. The gym was nothing especially when it comes to Military who are used to physical training every morning which we were not provided even though this place is military friendly. The gym had no working equipment whatsoever. Smoke break was every 45 minutes, so if you're an alcoholic, you dropped one bad habit to pick up another. There was only one operational computer that you can use to handle any personal issues like bills, to share with 60+ patients. Either There was water outage or hot water outage most of the time. I pissed me off when the nurses would complain about how they had to go across the street to relieve themselves and I'm like hey moron, we have to hold our's in until this water comes back. The wifi that connected to only one TV would constantly go down. This place was more like a prison rather than a treatment facility. DO NOT SEND YOUR MILITARY MEMBERS HERE TO HEAL BECAUSE IT'LL MAKE THEM WORSE THAN WHEN YOU SENT THEM OFF TO COME TO THIS FACILITY!

My 13 year old child was admitted to Aurora in February 2024 for self harm, substance abuse, and potential run away. This program helped my daughter change her life around and also ours as parents. DR. G is amazing at his job and very friendly, my daughter said that all the kids like him better than the other doctors there. She also said that 1 staff member that was a group teacher pulled her to the side and started asking her questions that started to change my childs perspective on life. I highly appreciate the staff for always answering my phone calls. And i liked how they made shure your kid gets released with their new prescription meds if needed, an assigned therapist lined up, an IOP program to make sure my child has care after visitation.
Cons:
1.I never got a clear answer on when my child was going to be released, i had to keep calling for updates.
2. Facility definitely needs things fixed cosmetically, my child said that there was green mold on the walls of the showers, Toilets would be clogged often, and water from the sink to brush your teeth had a bad taste.
Pros:
1. She was motivated by the treasure box items gifted for good behavior
2. She loved the group sessions.
3. She liked how she could call people.
4. Like how she was free to wear her clothes, even if there was limitations.
