I was not satisfied with the work he did on my face and it was not professionally done. Even after he admitted that it was not perfect he said I would have to pay again for him to fix it. When I believe he should've done his job right in the first place!

May 31st, I got shot by San Diego Polic at a protest in downtown San Diego. The rubber bullet tore through my right bicep tendon and muscle. At the time of injury, a stranger picked me up off-street from the line of fire and volunteer wrapped a tourniquet around my arm. It was another 4 hours before I made it to the ER. Due to Covid, I had to go to the ER, alone and was really confident all I needed was a few stitches. After removing the "field bandage" it was clear the bone was exposed so they called in Dr. Vecchione for a consultation and ultimately emergency surgery at 1:00 am. Not at all what I intended. I spent the night in the hospital and Dr Vecchione came back the next day to check on me before I was discharged and sent home with a cast from my fingers to my armpit. I've read the other reviews and I'm just going to say Dr. Vecchione's bedside manner may not be for everyone. I too was surprised at the lack of anesthesia (topical) or even more tender care when the stitches were removed but when I asked questions as to why he explained that there isn't really pain when removing the stitches and why he choose stitches over staples (would leave more of a scar). I have been seeing him every two weeks since my injury and he is the only provider who allows my girlfriend in with me. This is invaluable with COVID and all my appointments it's impossible to remember everything and go solo everywhere when you physically need help.  Last week was my last appointment covered under the initial surgery and I still need to follow ups so Lianne in the office was sure to clarify that I would have a copay in the future and what to expect from my insurance. Since my injury, I have had a ton of forms required from FMLA, to insurance and my jobs HR documents. Somehow I missed the deadline with work paperwork and needed the office to fill things out ASAP. I talked to Lianne, she said she would take care of it before she left for the holiday weekend and reminded me she would be out the following day. Well in my panic, I sent the wrong form. I didn't even notice my mistake until I say my email today and noticed how my work communicated it was the wrong form and Haydn in the office of Dr. Vecchione just picked up where Lianne left off. My panic went from shock to joy in about 5 seconds when I realized the exceptional level of service I received from the staff at the office. Y'all really are the best. Dr. Vecchione should give you both a raise for your tireless dedication to your work

This was the WORST physician our family has ever come in contact with.  He was disrespectful to our daughter, to a diabetic wheelchair bound gentleman in the office, and other elderly patients.  We saw him to have stitches removed from my daughter's face on the cheekbone below her left eye.  His brother had sewn the sutures in at the hospital emergency room at Rady two days prior.  He barked at our daughter, only 5 years old, for crying while removing the stitches.  He did not use any anesthetic or try in any way to calm her.  At one point he threw his instruments down, yelled at her, left the room, barked at the man in the wheelchair and spoke disparagingly about two other elder patients.  All within sight and earshot of the staff and other patients.  He returned to hastily remove the stitches, and slap a bunch of ointment and a large 2X2 mesh pad on her cheek with no tape.  No bandage to cover the wound, no steri strips to support the wound, etc.  His behavior was so bad his nurse was apologetic and embarrassed.  Needless to say our daughter scarred terribly from poor after care.  He even left two stitches in that had to be removed weeks later.  Avoid this physician at all cost.  He should not have privileges at Rady or anywhere else for that matter.  I've never written a poor review of any physician, but feel compelled to warn others of this physician.  Not to be confused with Thomas Vecchione.  He is a good physician.  Randal Vecchione is NOT.
