WE LOVE ANIMAE! The first time I came here was with my husband for date night, and we enjoyed it so much that we knew we had to treat our family/relatives that were visiting from out of town to one of the best restaurants in SD to celebrate a special occasion. Thank you to Chef Tara Monsod for taking the time to come and say hi to our family and even taking a photo with us!
This time, we ordered most of the menu to try a little bit of everything. Our faves were the pork tocino tomahawk, A5 wagyu, Taiwanese chicken, and wontons. We ordered two of the Taiwanese chicken and wontons starters because from our previous visit, we knew that the portions for those were smaller, so I recommend doing that for a large group :) We had 7 people, and I think 7 cold/hot starters + 2 wagyu fried rice, and an entree per person were more than plenty to share between everyone.
We also got the diniguan, ginataan, short rib kare kare, branzino, wagyu fried rice, lamb chops (starter), tuna kinalaw (starter), and crispy pork ears (starter). The Ube profiteroles are our favorite dessert.
The cocktails are also good. We've tried the
old fashioned with wagyu fat, midnight in Manila (rum based), and the turon espresso martini (prob my personal fave).
Last but not least, the ambiance is just beautiful! Delicious food and excellent service from the staff!
