Suboptimal mediocre care at best with an incompetent billing department. I delivered at Sharp Mary Birch 12/2022 and would not choose Sharp for my healthcare again. While I did like the OBGYN and NP I would see for prenatal visits, there were multiple mishaps that just added up over 9 months of pregnancy followed by billing issues. Prenatal Care: Throughout my prenatal care I experienced multiple cancelled appointments by Sharp. My very first appointment was canceled the morning of and when trying to reschedule they wanted to schedule me in my second trimester. I had to argue that I needed at least one visit in my first trimester which is typical for prenatal care. While I felt my doctor and NP were competent, nice, and willing to answer questions when asked, the visits are fast and they dont provide any education or counseling, just pamphlets. Delivery: I delivered via c-section due to breech fetal position but during this time everything felt rushed. I was provided a consent form for my anesthesia and surgery and told by my nurse just sign it and someone will review it later. They didnt give me an opportunity to read the consent form and just showed me where to sign. No one ever reviewed risks/benefits of my anesthesia or procedure. Then during the spinal things started to go wrong with my health and no one would tell me what was going on unless I pushed them for answers. I also had issues during the surgery and felt like I could not enjoy the birth of my child as I had to constantly advocate for myself to receive proper care. Postpartum: During my postpartum stay as a first time mom I was hoping to receive some help and information from the nurses but once again there was no education or help unless you pushed them. Nurses seemed overworked and in a rush to get to the next patient. I was told to start breastfeeding and then the nurse just left and was nowhere to be found to help while I was having issues. I then was unable to breastfeed and was given a breast pump with no instruction on how to use it. By day 2 I was finally able to meet with a lactation nurse who was extremely helpful, but it would have been nice if I had this support earlier. Billing: The issues started prior to my first appointment when Sharp asked me to pay my deductible before I even received any services. I was called 16 hours prior to my first appointment asking to pay $1200 which I felt was inappropriate with such short notice. Then after the delivery I was sent a bill that did not account for any of the money I already paid up front. It took two months and a healthcare advocate service on my side for them to adjust this. I also asked multiple times for an itemized receipt and EOB as my job reimburses these bills and when they did finally send me an EOB 3 months later, it was a single general page, not a full itemized receipt. New moms, this is NOT something you want to deal with when taking care of a newborn baby. Sharp was more trouble than they are worth, and I would not recommend them to any one assessing places for their prenatal care and delivery.

(Translated by Google) I got relief there this February 13th and it was the most horrible and traumatic experience of my life. I almost died. Were they negligent or at least they never explained to me in broad strokes what happened? I understand that there may be risks in surgery, after this I am left with depression and I am going to pay elsewhere to receive help. Honestly, I am afraid of going back to my gynecologist because of the same trauma, they say they sent me complete information, I will be waiting anxiously.
