This facility really deserves more recognition on this platform! My kids absolutely love JING. Not only do they feel safe at pick-up and at the facility itself, but they also feel genuinely cared for by all the staff.
Both my daughter and son come home and share all the new Mandarin words and songs theyre learning - Im honestly amazed by how quickly theyre picking it up! They also thoroughly enjoy the wushu as the active portion of their curriculum. Its gentle yet keeps their bodies moving!
What gives me the most peace about this program is that they are fantastic communicators. As a parent entrusting someone else to pick up my kids, I feel like they make parents comfortable by providing so much detail.
I highly recommend this program if youre interested in after-school care and want to give your kids a well-rounded day with extra socialization mixed in with educational-based programming!

Jing is a wonderful school.

My sons attended Jing's after school program from kindergarten thru 5th grade. I highly recommend Jing for parents looking for a quality after school or summer camp. I always felt like my boys were safe, having fun and learning. This school picks up students from the elementary and middle schools in Scripps Ranch and brings them to their facility off Carroll Canyon. They are open until 6 (very convenient for working parents). At the school, children learn Mandarin Chinese and Wu-Shu (a performance based martial arts). I found that my sons absolutely loved learning these their first few years. It was adorable - they'd sing Chinese songs and practice their forms at home. their interest waned as they got older (not sure if that's due to the school or just normal kids-growing-up). Nevertheless I still liked that they were learning and getting exercise after school. The teachers changed through the years (some were fantastic, some just ok). I'm not sure how advanced the Chinese lessons get (hard for me to tell since I don't speak it). I didn't feel like the goal was to make it a rigorous Chinese language program - rather they taught the fundamentals and vocabulary and characters. The school offers kids an opportunity to join a wu shu performance team. The kids practice routines and perform at fairs and festivals throughout San Diego. I can't say enough good things about Jing Jing (the owner) and Laura (the kids program coordinator). They are both wonderful women, who work incredibly hard and take good care of the children.

If you are looking for a genuine, reputable and proven school to learn Tai Chi, Wushu, Wing Chun, Qigong, Bagua, or Bujinkan (Ninja arts) than look no further than JING Institute. All of their instructors are excellent at what they teach and very passionate about their art. Just a quick visit to their website sdtaichi.com will give you a good idea of how dedicated they are about sharing Chinese martial arts and culture. Visit their school and you will see a huge number of medals, trophies, and awards that their students and instructors have won over the years. This is a school that breeds champions in Chinese martial arts. Even if you have no ambitions of becoming an instructor or champion competitor, wouldn't you want to learn how to move like one? JING Institute will teach you how. I have had the privilege and fortune to study at JING for several years under Jing Jing, Chris, Siu-Fong, Coach Wei Wei as well as other visiting masters (yes, they regularly have guest master instructors, many times directly from China...how cool is that!!). I have also seen several of my fellow students progress to the point of mastery and some who have gone on to pursue careers in teaching martial arts themselves (myself included). Do yourself a favor and check them out if you are in the San Diego area and looking for a place to learn Chinese martial arts. You will be glad you did!
