After reading the negative reviews, I was pleasantly surprised that they were not at all true! Positives: This hotel is right next door to the House of blues and a perfect location for enjoying the Gas Lamp Quarter. Valet staff was fast, friendly and reasonable at $55 (if you park yourself at the nearby lots plan to pay 2x the listed all day rates because they all charge for 2 days when you stay overnight). The lobby was beautifully decorated with taste and comfort in mind. The front desk staff was sweet and helpful. We had a king room that looked recently upgraded, nothing fancy but reminded us of the modern/simplistic vibes you get in Europe. You are in downtown, so yes expect to meet some homeless folks while youre walking the area, just like you do in all big cities. My husband and I just came for date night so we did not look at or utilize the amenities like the pool but the lobby bar and free morning coffee were delicious. Negatives: None
