Our daughter is currently finishing up her 6th year at TCPS, and we still could not be happier with the school. She is continually challenged academically, and she is so happy socially! The small class sizes are so unique to this school and benefit the students in amazing ways! Teachers are able to help each student at their individual level and meet their needs. The staff is friendly, understanding, and passionate about what they do! Our daughter is starting 6th grade next year, and we feel so lucky to be keeping her at the The Child's Primary School for her middle school years. We know she will be challenged, yet feel safe and comfortable at the school, especially during a time in a child's life that comes with a lot of changes.

Our daughter recently started at TCPS and it's certainly a great fit for our family. The staff is awesome! I mean everyone from admissions to the head to the teachers to the front desk. I love how it feels like a little community / family. The campus is quaint but big enough for everyone to spread out into their respective spaces. It's also right next to a park/playground which is nice if you're a few minutes early or if you need something to do right after school. The program at TCPS includes basic education and they also focus on social/emotional learning. In addition to the "regular" curriculum the kids have access to Spanish, coding (as early as Kinder), after-school programs etc. I can't wait to see how our child blossoms here!

We initially heard of TCPS from two separate families who had multiple children attending. My husband and I toured mid year before the pandemic hit because we were curious to understand what the other parents were telling us. It sounded too good to be true. Once the pandemic hit, we immediate contacted TCPS to check on space for both of our girls (1st and 4th). We decided to continue the year at our current school so the girls started 2020 in 2nd and 5th at TCPS. In hindsight, we should have moved them sooner.  Education during the pandemic was an awkward time for everyone but TCPS handled it with an extremely high level of professionalism that focuses on the kids education, well-being and socialization (as much as could be allowed during the time). Their teachers and staff worked many many hours overtime to keep the "new" routine as consistent as possible for the kids.  The teachers and staff care about the students and their success. Our daughters have very different academic strengths. The teachers recognize this and work extra to provide additional learning material for every level of learning. They push our kids to help them find their strengths and potential. The classes are small so the grades work together which gives older kids the opportunity to be leaders and the younger kids to learn from their older peers. Another bonus is that we really appreciate the direct communication with the staff when needed. Our experience at TCPS has been remarkable. We have recruited multiple families to join....which says a lot when someone else's child's future depends on it.

My husband and I have been talking about the many gifts TCPS offers and beyond the small class academic support, another gift was that Jacob learned to connect and become friends with his classmates through supportive group/team projects in and out of the classroom. He has grown tremendously through his transitional 5th/6th grade years.... He's learned to work independently, take more responsibility for assignments, due dates and planning but even more importantly his confidence in and outside the classroom has growth exponentially.  His interest to learn and grow as a life long learner has flourished. We feel so fortunate we found TCPS !! Seriously a jewel of a school and best thing we ever did when we were struggling to find a fit for Jacob. We never imagined the two years would put him on a path to develop as much as he has.  With all our gratitude to you and the staff at TCPS.

My son went to TCPS for 3 years.  Each day he loved going to school and got into my car happy everyday.  I wish we hadn't gotten asked to leave because of my actions as a parent on the last day of school.  I wish I hadn't vented to the secretary.  I was frustrated because he hadn't taken his meds in weeks and no one told me.  I also was frustrated because no one mentioned until the end of year conference that he was struggling in writing.  We had to pull teeth to get the teacher to tell us at that.  Now that his learning challenges are identified, he receives extra support provided by Banyan Tree so my expectations have changed.  I just wish someone could have told us earlier so we could have helped him sooner.  The sad thing was that Donny didn't ask me what happened or have a meeting with us.  He just said we couldn't return because I ranted about his teacher in the parking lot and another parent over heard.  Donny also said there were irreconcilable differences between me and the secretary, but I wasn't frustrated with her or attacking her.  It left us in a bad spot because it was the last day of school, but if I could have only known what was going on with him earlier I could have gotten the support and I wouldn't have been frustrated.  Still doesn't excuse my behavior and I will never vent again.  I apologize to the secretary for my behavior because she must have felt threatened even though I wasn't frustrated with her at all and it wasn't directed at her ever.  I learned a valuable lesson that has negatively impacted our son.  I can't vent to anyone at his school ever or complain or expect to know how my child is doing,  I have to rely on Banyan Tree and that is ok.  I know now that I have to trust he is doing well n where he needs to be at school with out questioning it.  I have to lower my expectations.  I wish I hadn't done that on the last day of school because my son is being punished to this day because of me.  I wish Donny checked in with parents and not just the teachers that way he could have different opinions or views of what is going on from both parents and staff.  In the teachers defense COVID changed communication and parents weren't allowed on campus which compounded everything I'm sure.  Then to add insult to injury,  I was shocked when we had him evaluated for admission at the Rock and Banyan Tree and his reading comprehension was at 2nd grade level.  He was meeting expectations in all areas at TCPS, but was 2.5 years behind when assessed at the rock and one year behind at Banyan.  I am writing all of this to explain why I was frustrated and not to make TCPS look bad.  Our son has learning challenges that I'm sure weren't identified by his teachers for good reasons.  No assignments were sent home until a stack at the end of the year, and at that time I didn't know how to use Google classroom so I never knew how he was doing in school which added to my frustration.  My expectations have changed now.  I just want him to be happy at school everyday.  My son is attending the Rock Academy and is doing very well academically, but is in tears almost everyday at pick up.  He keeps asking if he can go back to TCPS.   If he attended TCPS again we would continue to send him to Banyan Tree to support his reading n writing along with Mathnasium.  I know he would be successful at TCPS and the additional outside support would be sufficient communication for me.  As a mom it is heart breaking to see my child so sad each day and hear him ask me repeatedly to go back to TCPS.  He is being penalized because of my actions.  Please don't punish him because I'm his mother and my actions in the past.  It was all my fault.  I will never vent my frustrations again to anyone or complain and I won't expect good communication.  I understand the culture now at TCPS and am willing for his sake to acculturate.  Please consider allowing him back in TCPS.  I miss seeing him happy and will apologize to anyone you want me to.  I know what I did was wrong and won't ever make that mistake again.  TCPS was a good sheltered environment for his mental well-being and confidence, where he was happy.  You will never have a problem out of me again.  He needs the environment that TCPS provides.  Please consider it.
