Dr. Yoo, Shannon and the entire staff are the best! I was in need of a biological dentist for various reasons and was looking for someone who uses safer, biocompatible materials. I have chemical sensitivities and have had reactions to the toxic chemicals used at the dentist in the past. Not only is Dr. Yoo an expert at his craft, but the materials he uses have no odor and I have had not any reactions during crown replacement and other procedures. Dr. Yoo is very kind and understanding and I don't feel like I'm "overreacting" or "nuts" when I ask him questions regarding holistic dentistry. I can tell he's a perfectionist and feel I can trust him completely to give the best possible care. Shannon is amazing! She has years of experience in the dental field and can answer most questions you have. She's outgoing, kind and funny and a wizard at booking, changing appointments and making you feel at home in the office. The dental hygienists and assistants are all very nice too!

Dr. Yoo and his warm team are top notch. I was on the search for a holistic dentist who viewed myself and my family as whole beings and not just another mouth filled with teeth. Dr. Yoo helped to ease my anxiety over dental work. He is kind and compassionate while being an artist in the dental field. The office is great with kids, too, which is an added bonus. We are so grateful we found this dental office.

Dr. Yoo is by far the best dentist I have ever had. He takes a holistic approach and doesn't take shortcuts that end up giving you more problems in the long run, like my previous dentists. He also personally does a lot of the procedures that dentists often hand off to their assistants (like gluing the "buttons" on your teeth that Invisalign braces trays snap on to). The entire staff is compassionate, friendly and efficient. I've had my teeth cleaned by two different people and they are both gentle and thorough. Shannon, the office manager, is the best! She really takes care of you and explains everything, from procedures to insurance, very clearly.As long as I live in San Diego, I'm not going to another dentist. The place is a gem.

This review is not easy to write as I genuinely thought I found my new dental clinic learning that this doctor practiced a more "holistic" approach. Unfortunately, all of my worst fears about going to a dentist were found at this practice. After my initial call to schedule my visit, I was told by Shannon that they "worked" with my PPO dental plan but quickly learned that any treatment or visit is always a "pay everything up front" and then "we will deal with insurance later." This approach should have been the first red flag in running the other way and finding another place that first works with insurance as any reputable dentist practice does. I decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and went ahead with the cleaning appt. During the cleaning, Dr Yoo started asking me various questions about my sleep to which I told him that I had zero issues with sleep and breathing. He then continued telling me how in the future when I get pregnant and "gain weight" this might affect my breathing and he wanted me to do an in-house xray which I was charged $400 for. Seems like this is a side racket that they have all of their patients participating in as I have never seen this bizarre test anywhere else. The doctor then placed a mouthguard in my mouth to which he said would help me at night, never telling me that they were also going to charge me for it. I was honestly surprised they didn't put a price on the freebie toothbrush as well. After the exam, Dr Yoo told me that they "miraculously" had an opening and that they could treat all of my teeth right there and then. Thinking about the convenience of this, I agreed. Long story short, I walked into the clinic with no pain and walked out without being able to chew on my left side for 3 months because of pain caused by treatment. The 3 cavities and unnecessary "sleep x-ray" also cost me a thousand dollars out of pocket. Shannon ended up double billing the insurance company which was a headache to sort out. She assured me that even though I paid everything up front, the insurance would reimburse me once she submitted the paperwork and the reimbursement never happened because this practice was never in the network to begin with. If you have a great dental insurance plan, please save your money and peace of mind and find a more reputable and honest place.
