SDAB provides rigorous training in the Vaganova style of ballet. The facilities (primarily the floors and studio size which are so important) are excellent. My son has danced with SDAB for 7 years and SDABs Artistic Director Sylvia Tchernychev has expertly guided him through multi-year YAGP competitions and a trip to the YAGP Finals in 2021. My son loves SDAB and most enjoys the bi-annual SDAB performances which are impressively professional. He has met so many wonderful friends at SDAB and he cherishes the dancing and the time they spend together at the studio. Operated professionally by Simone Gabrielle, I highly recommend SDAB for serious advanced as well as beginning ballet dancers.

Weve had our daughter in dance since she was 3. When Covid mandates were put in place at our dance studio, we went searching for other dance studios where my daughter could dance without a mask. We tried two competitive dance studios, and quickly realized our daughters passion was ballet, so we moved her to a ballet specific school. As my daughter continued to excel in ballet, we noticed a difference between her and her peers/classmates, so we searched for other ballet specific schools that would challenge her more but still aligned with our family values. We tried a couple other schools, SDAB being one of them and we knew immediately we found her new dance home. The staff, caliber of training, character and integrity of her peers and their families has been nothing but exceptional. We are so thankful we chose to shop around and very happy to call SDAB our ballet home for our daughter. Miss Simone does everything with excellence and it shows in the improvements weve seen in our daughter in just a few short months. Highly recommend this ballet school.

I sincerely appreciate and admire the teachers and staff at SDAB. They have all been kind, friendly, talented and thorough. My daughter (6 yo) joined Pre-Ballet, then continued to Ballet 1 with Ms. Ashley and is learning so much! She adores her Tuesday class, even at the end of a long school day. I am confident she is learning proper technique and am happy to see it taught in a fun manner. Ms. Ashley is so sweet, always patient and positive. She takes time to listen to each student and provides a lot of encouragement. Ms. Simone is dynamic leader with a kind heart and generous spirit. I see the passion she has for guiding students! I appreciate her ability to keep things running efficiently with strong communication and clear expectations. She is quick to respond and happy to answer questions or address concerns. Parents are respectful and supportive, I enjoy talking with them when waiting. It has been a pleasure to be a part of this community, it has been a positive experience for us! If you have the opportunity to attend a performance or observe the upper level classes, I highly recommend doing it. So inspiring!

Incredible and Professional Experience Our daughter had already danced competitively and for over a decade, so when she passionately shared with us her desire to further develop her ballet training, we took the search process for an avenue very seriously. The critical effort to find the right school resulted in her finding a real home at San Diego Academy of Ballet and Ballet Theater. It was one of the best decisions! Ms. Sylvia Tchernychev, the Artistic Director, is a great professional. She is the former Prima Ballerina of the California Ballet and brings a professional approach to a nurturing and inspiring teaching environment. There is nobody like her! She creates real masterpieces and dedicates herself to her students. Our daughter is thriving, and most importantly she LOVES her ballet school and feels being loved there.
