I've had many many stays at SMV and have always been given the best care. The nurses are kind, treat you as a person (not just a patient) and truly care about you. I'd like to give a shout-out to Rhonda on EW1 for always going above and beyond for me. They feed you well and often, the food is decent for a hospital, and there's always snacks if you're hungry. There's lots of visiting hours, so it's nice to see loved ones while having to be in the hospital. I hate when my condition warrants a hospital stay, but if I have to, then I highly recommend Mesa Vista.

Being my first time admitted into a psychiatric hospital I was a tad bit anxious as to what to expect, I knew I needed to be there but unsure of well, the unknown. I was very impressed by the calm and caring staff and atmosphere, and my mind was quickly put at ease. I would like to thank not just the Nursing staff that overlooked my care, but all the staff who treated me respectfully, and was never unwilling to help when I had a question or request, making my stay that much easier to get through. I appreciate you all very much and my mind is in a better place now due to all of you.

I would have given 5 stars but after spending a week in a behavior unit my discharge was horrible the Dr didn't sign my discharge and it got worse from there. I'm on medication and dr didn't ask what pharmacy I used he said he didn't see it in my information so he sends it to one close to the hospital that are closed on the weekend and I am not able to pick it up til Monday plus I don't live anywhere near there. Just got off the phone and dr is not willing to go into hospital to fix his mistake and call my prescription to my pharmacy so now I have to wait til Monday (it's Sunday)but I was released on Sat 530 Dr's don't care anymore. It's only about the money he could have avoided all of this and just sent someone to ask what pharmacy I use Now I go un medicated until I can get this worked out I rented a hotel last night because I thought it would get worked out this really sucks

I signed in voluntarily to the East Wing but quickly realized the staff were rude and did not care about my well-being. I asked to be released to go to UCSD (which is WONDERFUL by the way) but instead they placed me on a 72 hour hold once they learned my insurance and family income. When I told them I needed to leave and it was unethical to keep me in these conditions, they called my mom to tell her I was non-compliant and moved me to the ICU. Thats when I lost it. I kept reminding them that they needed to let me go, to the point where they sedated me. However, they drugged me so much that they gave me serotonin syndrome. Lucky for them, once they realized this, they sent me home! I had to rush to another emergency room where the doctor said it was a miracle I was alive. I am appalled and traumatized by my experience. If you are young and in need of mental health services, go to the UCSD Hillcrest Emergency Room and ask for help. Stay as far away from Sharp as possible. Edit: its been years since I went to this hospital and Im still dealing with the trauma. Stay away
