I have been doing my taxes here for many years now, and have only had excellent experiences. Twyla, who is the preparer that I normally deal with is extremely knowledgeable and polite and helps me every year with my tax returns. They are fully qualified CPAs, and can help with various needs, and I highly recommend them.

The name of this accounting firm is now---Patrick Buzarellos Kendrick, LLP.Named after the founders, Catherine Patrick and Twyla Buzarellos, along with a promoted partner, Malia Kendrick.My certified public accountant is Twyla Buzarellos, CPA, MST, and she is a fantastic income tax preparer.My local personal organizer referred me to Twyla late last year as I began to panic about scary letters I received from the California Franchise Tax Board. I had not filed my tax returns for 2014 through 2017 (due to some extraordinary personal circumstances).After my personal organizer helped me to finally locate and gather necessary papers, and encouraged me to contact various financial institutions to have some vital financial statements sent to me, I met with Twyla to complete my 2014 returns! All the huge amounts of money the Franchise Tax Board claimed I owed them was reduced to a mere few hundred dollars after Twyla thoroughly and accurately submitted my income tax returns.Interestingly, the Internal Revenue Service never sent ominous letters to me. When I called the IRS to confirm they had received my 2014 return, they explained that they had not sent any threatening letters because "they let the California Franchise Tax Board play bad cop."To my great relief, with tax year 2014 done, Twyla and I finished all the detail work and tax preparation for the 2015, 2016, and 2017 returns as well!With each tax year and each individual return, for both federal and state, I had many questions and all sorts of thoughts about my tax deductions. Twyla patiently educated me every step of the way and answered all my e-mails promptly even when my back return prep ran into the 2018 tax season at the beginning of this year. I had tax deductions I had not realized for my sole proprietor business that translated into major refunds for all these subsequent returns!We finished the 2018 tax year in February . . . O N  T I M E!!It is important to note that Twyla's rates were quite reasonable, especially since she had five in-person meetings with me, e-mails, and phone conversations, in addition to the high caliber of work she does. I mentioned to her that I was used to SF Bay Area prices for professional services and Sacramento still presents an added value to me in many instances. I just spoke with Ms. Patrick about a real estate matter on behalf of one of her clients who happens to be my mother.  She was not only extremely brusque in her response to my question but ended the call by stating 'well, I hope it works out for you' and then hung up on me.  Frankly I was appalled at this lack of professionalism.

I have filed my taxes with Cathy Patrick since 1997.  My annual call to her is always a pleasure...she is knowledgeable, competent, thorough and nice.
