My first job at Sacramento County Mental Health was with Dr Gulley as my direct supervisor. Although I was only there approximately six weeks before being called into training for another position, I can truly say what I learned from him influenced my in the 15 years that followed. His level of compassion and respect was visible to all with whom he came into contact. Dr. Gulley said you will learn a lot about yourself in this position and that was valuable information. To look at oneself through the mirror of people in vulnerable situations was eye opening. I learned so much during my 15 years. I only wish I couldve spent more time in his Department; however, he gave me the tools to do my work that made for a very satisfying career.
