I wish I could leave negative stars for this company. This company like so many others that have expanded out of a local area is no longer able to serve their clients quality care. Avoid them if you care about yourself and/or your loved ones.
When we recieved my father's prognosis we decided to go with hospice care. Kaiser was full and they recommended Vitas. The bed they delivered was the most flimsy, uncomfortable piece of equipment you have ever seen. My father was absolutely miserable the first night. When we asked what they could do, they said they could put on "full rails". This would not help the situation. When we asked when someone would be out to help him bathe, they originally said Wednesday (we brought him home on Tuesday). They never let us know a time for Wednesday so I called. They then told me the person who bathes was not available until Friday. This would have meant my father had not been bathed in over a week. How do you only have one person who bathes people? We then went to discharge my father from Vitas and admit him to Bristol Hospice. Vitas made it is extremely difficult to discharge him. They kept saying dates were wrong on paperwork so we couldn't discharge him and therefore not be able to access services at another hospice. They sent us forms we could not fill out on line. I finally printed the discharge paperwork and walked it into their Sacramento office. I could not believe a service "dedicated" to helping people during the worst part of their lives was so horrible.
