This is a new one for me, and proves all the nooks and crannies in this town are yet to be discovered. The pedestrian/bike bridge is just north of here at 2nd & S Streets, and takes you over the freeway, and onto a very pleasant ride down to Front Street Animal Shelter, which eventually ends at the intersection of the W-X and I-5 freeways, about 1/2 mile south. In fact, this a good ride if you're interested - quiet, away from freeway noise, and surprisingly clean. if you go north, you'll hit Old Sac. The bridge is well built, wide enough for both pedestrians and cyclists, and has barriers to keep motorized traffic off it. I even caught a glimpse of the horse drawn carriage coming from Old Sac. So, this is all a part of the riverfront renewal, I'm assuming, to start utilizing valuable space for the public. Great idea.

Very nice path along the Sacramento River to Tower Bridge and towards Old Town. Unfortunately, you can see homeless people and strange characters in almost every nook or bench.
