Finding out my Toyota FJ Cruiser needed to have its timing chain components replaced was a bit stressful knowing the cost, labor, and experience required but Victor at Manuels Auto Repair was very reassuring. I had diagnosed the problem myself before giving them a call but he took the time to talk it over, figure out the diagnosis, explained what needed to be done, and was very honest. An 18 hour job sounds daunting to anyone who isnt mechanically included but this shop handled it like pros. Additionally, I asked them to replace the water pump, thermostat, serpentine belt, and radiator. Crazy, right? After picking it up I drove it straight to the mountains and it handled the incline like butter! Acceleration was smooth, throttle was responsive, and the VVTi was running like a champ. I dont think my FJ has ever felt this smooth to drive. I highly recommend Manuels Auto Repair and if possible, speak to Victor. He even sent me photos during the repairs, and called me later after I picked it up to discuss how everything went and find out how the drive home was. Also, the labor cost was extremely reasonable especially when compared to the other 3 shops I called. Turns out most places rather avoid timing chain issues but Manuels can handle it!
