After being referred to this Retina specialist, I had at least 6 telephone conversations regarding the referral info needed and making sure they had my insurance information. They then gave me an appointment for 7:10 AM on 6/21/18. I had to leave my home in Carlsbad about an hr before and drive through traffic to make sure I arrived on time . I had never been there before. I signed in about 10 mins. early. As I was sitting in the waiting room, I received a call from their office. I told the girl I was right in the waiting room. They called me up and told me they were cancelling my appointment as that Doctor just called in and at that time told them he was no longer taking new patients . What? After numerous phone calls to make sure we were all good to go? How unprofessional of that Doctor! Did he just now 10 mins before look at his schedule? Did the scheduler make a mistake? I was already under much stress from cancer health issues occurring in my family and did not need this. I have a wrinkled retina to be operated on. After I accepted an apt for the following week with another Dr. there, I sat outside to process all this info and decided I would not return to a place that operates like that only to have them operate on my eyeball!!! If the Doctor didnt know until I was in the office that he had this appointment with me , a new patient, than what could I expect the day of surgery!!! I walked back in the office and told them that I will get another referral to a more professional specialist. After driving back home they called and now wanted me to drive back there for an afternoon apt.!! Is he so full of himself that he doesnt care about the patient that drove an hr under stress, to see him?? Is this ethical? I wont open my wallet at this office if even to give my insurance card!!!!!
