I recently photographed a wedding at Pacific Unitarian Church, and our experience was positive. The facilities were clean and spacious. The staff was friendly. And of course, the views of the city were breathtaking!

Part 1 I live a stones throw away from this venue. Infact I look over it from my backyard, patio and dinning room. I have the same if not better view & ample space to host in my own backyard (which I have innumerable times over 30 years Of living here). I made the poor decision to host an event of 100 crme de La crme respected persons & thier families at this venue. I used caterers & dj that this venue had worked with prior & approved of (no subwoofers as they don't allow them and no outdoor speakers bc they are also not allowed). My guests were grown adults in thier 50s attending my formal black tie event- all from PV and others visiting elders. The usual coordinator was away on vacation &I was left with an unprofessional, untrained, unkempt, purple haired, oversized sweat shirt and sweats wearing barbaric woman that was clearly over zealous with her temp role as coordinator. This beast stomped through my formal event & through traditional ceremony & stormed the dance door as well as the dining/seating area of my event screaming & shouting at my guests from 7:30pm onwards. Kellie bullied & terrorized my guests & vendors, alike- completely unwarranted & unprovoked. Kellie Kinsman persistently imposed herself upon my guests & even took the liberty to tell my caterers to begin dinner service w/o asking or even informing me. It was very clearly evident that Kellie was under the influence of alcohol by her irrational explosive behavior. Kellie shout at the top of her lungs at my guests & vendors shooed them off the property well before due time. She rudely interrupt a tradional religious ceremony performed by elders, shouting at them that they had20 mins to "wrap it up" or she was shutting off the power to the venue. She then physically accosted my bartender, tried to bully and aggressively overpower him and yanked his hand mid his pouring a glass of Soda for an elderly guest at 9:15 pm. The dj had announced a request for guests who had not yet eaten to please do so as Kellie then stormed the dj booth without warning yanking the plugs out of the wall, stunning everyone and leaving everyone a gasp from the loud pop of the equipment being turned off incorrectly & hapazardly. When I approached her & told her she was making an unnecessary spectacle & insulting my guests & that there was a better way to approach her issue [like in her office] she animatedly shout at me with flailing fingers in my face telling me she over heard my sister say the party was on till 11 & therefore had to take matters into her own hands & then proceeded to threaten me with calling the cops. bare in mind, I live across the street from this venue and guests were invited to carry on with festivities at my home, if they chose to and that is not Kellies jurisdiction to dictate over.

Both of my Sisters have held events at this location. It's also walkable to my parents house. I used to wait outside this church to get picked up by the pv transit. I've also voted at this location many times. Overall, I am super disappointed in the management, whom I have not directly spoke with but I did hear over the phone. My sister held an event last weekend and the chaperone of the venue, Kellie Kinsman had purple hair and was wearing shabby clothing fit for a sleep over, not to supervise a venue where people are formally dressed celebrating life's moments. She disrespected the entire event by walking around the entire venue and persisted to tell the djs and guests and bartenders that the event was over even though it was not even 9pm. She called a lady called Lynn on the speakerphone who somehow okayed this wretched behavior. Kellie threatened to call the sheriffs and she also had time to go eat from the caterers, and go drink from the bartenders. She's barely fit to work at a pet smart, let alone a venue or church. The management at this church needs to get their act together and apologize to my sister for ruining her event. It goes without saying, but I don't think Kellie would have acted this way if it were a Caucasian event. The utter disrespect she showed to the guests made it clear to me that she is a racist bigot. I will never support this church or venue going forward. They have a lot of work to do and need to shape up. Getting rid of Kellie is the first step.

The venue has a nice view but that's the only upside to Renting this space. Unfortunately, the staff who are onsite to manage events are incompetent and rude. I am specifically referring to an employee named Kelly Kinsman, who single-handedly ruined my sister in laws engagement party. She harassed the guests throughout the entire night about leaving the venue at 10pm on the dot and provided no grace or courtesy for us to take decor down or help guests get their cars afterwards. She even went as far as threatening to call the cops!!! She routinely provoked the dj to constantly turn down the music from 7pm onwards and argued with the bartenders throughout the night too. Thanks to Kelly's personal behavior and mismanagement of this event, I will never spend a dime on any event here in the future. She was aggressive, rude, and displayed some faint racism that was hard to ignore. This whole event felt like an opportunity for her to go on a power trip and harass vendors and guests. I would suggest she take some serious management 101's about how to speak to customers and guests at venues before ever being put in a position of authority again... if ever. She's not fit to speak to customers. I am posting a single star here in order to inform the public that this space is not the right space for your event, but would leave a 0 star review if I could.
