image I have toured 20+ preschools and this is definitely the best one. We decided to send my son there immediately after touring. My son has stayed there for almost 3 years. Several highlights:1. The cleanest school. I heard that it's common in preschools that one kid gets sick (e.g., flu), the whole class gets it. This has never happened in Discovery (amazing, right?). During this very special school year 2020-2021, there was no COVID case found in this school.2. The teachers use Positive Discipline to educate kids. They even gave a lecture to parents about it! This is the only preschool that I know which truly does this... (Many teachers in other preschools do not even know Positive Discipline.)3. This is a true Montessori school, but my son is doing great academically in terms of math, phonics etc. He is super happy every day there.Drawbacks of this school:The teachers focus too much on caring the kids that they may not reply to emails or phone calls quickly. If you are interested, please just walk to their door and talk to them. And this becomes dramatically different after your kid is enrolled: whenever you have any questions regarding to your kid's development, just give them a phone call and they usually respond within 1 day, giving you awesome suggestions (often following Positive Discipline). They just care too much about kids' education, rather than advertising...If you have any questions about this school, please do not hesitate to message me and I am more than happy to help.

image This is a hidden gem in peninsula. Among all the highly rated preschools (10 plus) I have toured three years ago for my daughter when she was 2, I fell in love with this one right away. It's a true Montessori, respecting kids as much as adults. Director Bonnie has over 30 years' experience and she always bends over or knees down to each little kid's eye level to talk to them, so that they can look at her directly rather than look up at her. This little detail already differentiates Discovery from most preschools, and such details are numerous. It's heartwarming to see kids get greeted and listened to with genuine curiosity and respect, it's reassuring to know that no one would be labeled as "oh, you're just shy" (a most common phrase to be used even among good intentioned parents yet a no-no in the Montessori dictionary), and it's just so cute to see two four-year olds sitting across a little "dining table" with a beautiful clean tablecloth (with a mini flower vase in the center and fresh flowers too!) savoring their breakfast and joyfully chatting (before the pandemic). Everything is in the "little people" size, and every corner is bright and clean, and the whole space is peaceful, soothing, yet lively and vibrant. Being there physically nurtures one's soul. The teachers are true experts on children and they really care. My daughter has been here for almost three years, and whenever I had any questions or concerns (most have nothing to do with school but are about kid development in general), Bonnie and other teachers offer seemingly simple yet most effective advice (with full respect to individual kids, as always). Kids engage in many projects independently, and kids learn naturally from endless fun projects. My daughter could count to 100 before she was 3 and she brings at least one artwork home everyday. But they're not academics-oriented, and kids explore, play, learn all naturally. During the pandemic, the schools stayed open and kids were as little affected as possible. You'd be deeply impressed if you see how much cleaning teachers do daily. Due to the staff's diligence and the small teacher-student ratio, we feel very safe. Parents communicate with teachers and among ourselves often, and we organize soccer classes and play dates on a weekly basis. I cannot say enough about this school. It's truly the best Montessori in the peninsula.

image My two children attended this school and I was extremely happy with the self sufficiency and confidence that my children learned here. Now after having experienced a year of covid, I appreciate their attention to safety, and sanitation. So many parents were worried about their children in school but with the precautions that Bonnie took my children were able to have a modified but almost normal safe in-person schooling. I am deeply grateful for this peace of mind.

image Discovery is an excellent school. My both kids attended here (one is still there) and my daughter was reading Harry Potter in Kindergarten thanks to Bonnie and the other teachers at Discovery. It is Montessori style and has a very diverse student and teacher population, which we loved. While my kids are doing very well academically due to the school, it wasn't a very "academic" environment. They teach things in a fun way using Montessori and have plenty of enrichment activities - art, music, Mandarin, etc. We have recommended 5+ families to the school that have all loved it. We even know two families who left and then came back within a year after realizing this is the best  preschool in the Bay Area!

image We greatly appreciate the care and attention our 3-year-old daughter is receiving at Discovery. She looks forward to going to school every morning and seems to be developing nicely. Discovery also does a good job at fostering a sense of community by communicating frequently and hosting (optional) parent events.
