After the fiasco below I contacted AHS and escalated the claim. Despite the previous complaints about Inter-City, AHS recalled service from Inter-City Plumbing. Jim the owner came out and said we needed a $250 descale and if it does not solve the problem, would not charge us. He came out for a third visit on 4.8, descaled the water heater, and resolved the problem of the hot water failing to ignite. Happy it is fixed. On 3/26, Trevor was dispatched to our home to fix our tankless water heater through American Home Shield. He attempted to fix the unit and subsequently had to call Rinnai for help. After approximately one hour, Trevor said there was an insect in the fan blade and it was now working. However, when we tried to fire it up, it wouldn't ignite. So, Trevor gave me a workaround, any time I needed to use the water heater, I had to go to the garage and hold the pressure release valve on. When I did that, it would fire up but within a few minutes shut down again. I informed Inter City of the problem within 2 hours of Trevor leaving my residence. Now, Inter City is saying the unit was fixed and completely wiped their hands of the situation. So, AHS set up a recall and was told they could get back out within a day or two. When I called Inter City, they said that they couldn't get out for a week. Somebody is lying. That means I would be without hot water for 2 weeks. This is unacceptable. My wife had a rather frank discussion with Crystal, a plumber, at Inter City that was going nowhere, and Crystal hung up on my wife and subsequently cancelled the recall order that AHS had placed. Somehow, Crystal used the deflection strategy and said the unit need to be de scaled. It was descaled 3 months ago. But she persisted. These folks are averse to accountability. Bottom line don't use this company. The unit was NOT fixed, and they know that. They lost a customer and my hope is that it will keep other customers from falling into this abyss.

Jim was amazing. I would only use this company for all my plumbing needs. Also, very reasonable.

AHS sent this company to our home and our hot water heater is covered with the insulation but found out we have 1800 in extra charges. Call around and got more options and if we went with other companies the cost is less then the extra charges. Something seems off here. No sir I will not be ripped off today.
